Akane nodded to herself and made some notes. “This is interesting Commander,” she announced as she brought up a page on the screen.

“The indigenous people seem to be very welcoming of guests and foreigners, it would be worth the away team saying they are from another area of the planet, it looks like they would be afforded a certain amount of hospitality and courtesy, it might make it easier for them to gather information,” she added.

“Scan the database for which area the least is known about, try to get a visual of the people there. Then send the information down to sickbay for Captain Cochrane and Dr Hudson. That way the team can be from there.

The fact that the Molkaen had a unified world government made the request trickier than it might have been, but a large island in the northeastern region of the planet was still relatively isolated. Many of the cultural values were the same, though they were notably more private / culturally introverted than the planetary average.

Shedda stood up, “The bridge is yours Lt. Kaia.” She moved toward the back of the bridge and into the conference room.

“Acknowledged,” Kaia didn’t bother getting down from the XO chair, instead jumping acrobatically from it to the captain’s chair and sitting down.

There were a few moments of silence before, “I wanted to say something witty or funny, but I can’t think of anything.”

At that moment the door to the conference room opened and Mal’athar walked back onto the bridge. She stayed Kaia from getting up, waiting to hear what their current status was.

“None, ma’am, except that the away team is successfully on the planet.”

“Thank you for the update,” Kaia nodded, then looked at Shedda. “Want your chair back?”

Shedda shook her head, “Enjoy it for a moment, Lt. I’m quite fine right here. Unless you want to try out the XO chair?” Kaia would make a fine command officer one day if that was what she wanted.

“Ah, no, I’m happy on the XO seat. I’m not Captain material,” Kaia said sheepishly, then hopped over to the XO chair, letting Shedda take the Captain’s chair.

Cochrane tapped his communicator through his clothes and said =/\= Away Team to Manhattan. We are planetside. Switching comms to send only. If you need us, send a soft static burst. Cocrane out.=/\=

Shedda looked over at the comms officer, “Keep the comms open.” =/\=Bridge to transporter room, keep a lock on the away team. I want them out of there if anything goes sideways.=/\=

=/\= “Understood, Bridge.” =/\=

Tapping the display console on the chair, Shedda pulled up the link to the planets database looking for any further information they could provide to the away team. “What iare their space station and satellites doing? Any indication they noticed the beam in?”

“No, ma’am. All satellite activity is nominal based off our previous readings, and we haven’t intercepted any comm traffic of concern. I’ll keep a running summary up, though,” reported the duty science officer.
