After handling her evals, Ka’sora made her way to Deck Six and mused she was getting a good tour of the upper half of the ship (and she couldn’t wait to see more). Arriving at the office of her department head, she wasn’t sure how her studies fit into the layout of the ship. She figured she’d be in one of the general labs, but there wasn’t a deck focused on the social sciences. In fact, she thought she had just misread the ship layout, but after reading it twice she conceded that it was just an area that was of less interest for the ship’s missions. Given their presence in the Delta Quadrant, she thought this was an odd omission. Oh well, she would make it work, just like she did everything else.

Arriving at Flynn’s door, she pressed the chime.

The office was…a whirlwind might be the best description. Or an active type-7 spatial disruption maybe? The door hissed open to admit her to the small room, where the CSO was all about, only pausing for a moment in each place. It looked like he might be packing his things, or at least a good deal of them, although some clearly personalized architecture (the desk, for example, an elaborate multicolored metallic piece that vaguely resembled a nebula) didn’t appear to be going anywhere. It took a moment, but he paused at the edge of the aforementioned desk. “Ka’sora, yes? I know your file was in this morning’s stack of PADDs somewhere.”

Her movements were slow and steady as she approached the desk, and took in the surroundings with a beaming smile. “Yes, yes I am!” she said, bending at the hips. She peered at the desk and tilted her head to examine it from different angles. “Is this the natural colouration of the material or synthetically made to look that way?” Ka’sora asked, standing upright again.

“It’s naturally occurring, but atypical for the material - this particular sample was subjected to stresses in a spatial anomaly I came across on the Harper and I managed to talk the Captain into keeping it. Next time I was planetside I got in touch with an artisan to make this.” He grinned. “Now. This is your first assignment, correct?”
