It was clear that Fayth had been very much thinking over it. That was good, so long as it wasn’t an all-consuming thing. “And then there is the fun of meeting new species. This ship has done some of that since its been here. And you might even do so sooner rather than later. How do you feel about that? Not just as a Chief of Security, but as a Starfleet officer as well.”

“It’s what I signed up to do.” Eilah replied with a grin. “There’s no better type of mission than a good, peaceful first contact.” He smiled. “It’s why I accepted such a… distant transfer.”

Sair nodded. “As a security officer though, if everything if good and peaceful, does that make it boring for you? How do you see your role working in those situaitons?”
~Sair Songz, CNS
“Boring? Peace is the best part of the job,” Eilah replied. “We patrol, we run drills, we interact with the crew. My team should never be bored.”

She smiled, her expression matching her underlying emotions. She hadn’t run across so many security minded folks who actually enjoyed the seemingly mundane and it was nice to know that his philosophy was truly rooted around the crew itself. It was quite refreshing.
The Kobliad crossed her legs at the knee and considered him. “Do you have any questions about the ship, or any for me?”
~Sair Songz, CNS
“Well, I think I asked the Captain all my ship questions, but for you…” Eilah looked up at her. “Forgive me if you can’t answer this, but what’s the general mood on the ship? How do people usually feel?” It wasn’t like he couldn’t figure that out himself, Eilah was quite the empath, but he wanted to know about recently, before he’d been aboard.

“It depends,” Sair said. “On the whole, most people are excited to serve here and love the work they are doing. As you noted, it’s a bit of an odd crew, and being out here requires us to be resourceful and creative. We don’t have the same access to shore leave that we might otherwise, so we have to find ways to let off steam and socialize as needed. There are also those who struggle to be so far away from home, especially if they have been previously used to visiting more often. We can’t exactly just zip off to go visit family whenever we’re inclined to. Even with the wormhole, as you know, it take time to travel out to Event Horizon Station and that’s not factoring in whether the ship is even there to meet you.”
“I think that distance can be a great boon to some, and for others can exacerbate issues they might be having. that can in turn reflect in interpersonal interactions. So.. something to be aware of,” she said. Not that there were brawls or anything, but tensions could get high and sometimes needed a small amount of intervention.

Eilah nodded. “In that case, I hope to see a great many events for the crew to participate in. Might even be worth doing some games or something, build teamwork.” He commented.

Songz tilted her head. “Games? What sort of games?” she asked, immediately curious. Kobliad and games weren’t exactly synonymous most of the time, certainly not outside of childhood.
~Sair Songz, CNS
Eilah gave her a slightly confused, but mostly playful look. “Ever play potato sack race? They made us do it in the Academy. You race, except one of your legs is tied to someone else’s. So you have to work as a team to win.”
