“Can you tell me when you started struggling to take naps?” he asked.

Shedda looked confused a moment and then grinned but managed to look apologetic at the same time. “Oh, I’m sorry doctor. I’m not having trouble sleeping or getting to sleep. I’m just busy and not able to.” Deeper scans would show the chlorophyll in her epidermal layers were not functioning as efficiently as they had at her last scan.

“One could class that as trouble sleeping.” he said, with a slight grin. “Although I appreciate that sticking to a shift roster does not make it easy to achieve the necessary amount of sleep.” he said, tapping away on a PADD as he read the scan results.

Shedda laughed, “I suppose that is a type of trouble. It hasn’t really been too much of a problem, we’ve just been extra busy the past couple of weeks. And I’m a bit stubborn. I have a hard time leaving work unfinished.”

“Hmmm.” he mused. “Your chlorophyll levels are lower than your previous scan. I’m assuming that the disrupted sleep pattern is may be the cause of that, so I would recommend taking a few days to catch up on your sleep. I am more than happy to advise the Captain that you will be restricted to light duties at times of your choosing, to avoid you getting pulled into the roster.”

“Alternatively, I would recommend a high dose of UV rays, but that may not treat the underlying problem.”

“Actually that makes sense. I use my Sunrise lamp when I’m sleeping. It is used to provide an Orion with high concentrated UV rays when not planetside. Mine is actually built into my bed. They are hard to procure off of Orion. I will have to see if I can obtain another for my office.” Shedda’s father was going to bring an extra for Maava when he brought her, but that wouldn’t be happening now. Perhaps he could still send the other one. “I will make it a point to spend some extra time with the lamp. Hopefully, that should treat the underlying problems with my chlorophyll levels.”

“Perfect, well give that a go, and let me know how you get on.” Ben said, running a final scan. “Other than that, you appear to be fully fit for duty, so you can escape the clutches of sickbay for another six months.” He stated, chuckling slightly.

Shedda grinned in response. The doctor had a good personality. “Well not quite that long or just yet. I need my monthly pheromone suppressant before I leave.” Shedda’s medical file indicated that she was one of those rare people who was capable of controlling her pheromones, but that she chose to take the monthly suppressants anyway.

“Of course!” Ben said, momentarily forgetting that is one of the few medications that required a nurse to administer them. “But at least you won’t be getting the Spanish Inquisition each time; at least, until your next medical.” He stated, with a wry grin.
