“My physical state is much the same as my last physical. Though lately I have experienced some fatigue. Most likely from the prolonged disruption of my normal sleep cycle.” She turned to Hudson, “That is to say that I have not been able to take what humans call ‘naps’ that are a necessary part of my physiology.”

Taking a moment to process the information, Ben nodded understandingly, his brow furrowing slightly with concern. “Hmmm. We probably should try to find out what’s going on. If you’re not able to get the sleep you need, that will start to impact on your health.” He looked back at the medical scanner, comparing her current data to her last physical.

“Can you tell me when you started struggling to take naps?” he asked.

Shedda looked confused a moment and then grinned but managed to look apologetic at the same time. “Oh, I’m sorry doctor. I’m not having trouble sleeping or getting to sleep. I’m just busy and not able to.” Deeper scans would show the chlorophyll in her epidermal layers were not functioning as efficiently as they had at her last scan.

“One could class that as trouble sleeping.” he said, with a slight grin. “Although I appreciate that sticking to a shift roster does not make it easy to achieve the necessary amount of sleep.” he said, tapping away on a PADD as he read the scan results.

“Hmmm.” he mused. “Your chlorophyll levels are lower than your previous scan. I’m assuming that the disrupted sleep pattern is may be the cause of that, so I would recommend taking a few days to catch up on your sleep. I am more than happy to advise the Captain that you will be restricted to light duties at times of your choosing, to avoid you getting pulled into the roster.”

“Alternatively, I would recommend a high dose of UV rays, but that may not treat the underlying problem.”
