Devin looked over her transfer orders as the shuttle was passing through the wormhole. She’d never been on this side of the Federation territory before and was looking forward to the new experiences that laid ahead. She wasn’t upset she was still listed as an Ensign, it meant so much less paperwork for her to deal with. She dreaded the moment when the higher ups decided to give her more to do and adding more paperwork for her to deal with. She never envied the head of department for their office hours and had no plans to end up following their lead unless there was really no choice in the matter for her.

As the shuttle pilot and co-pilot got the clearance to approach Event Horizon station for docking and landing procedures she looked at her few belongings she had at her feet. The Sakura blossom bonsai tree was starting to show it’s crimson and white buds. In a few more weeks the blooms would be fully open and showing off their brilliant colors and contrast. Her duffel held her uniforms and dress uniform (she hated that one with a passion), two dresses that had been specially made (for her practice in ballroom dancing though she was doubting she would have much free time at first once she was on the official duty roster of the Manhattan. She would pick it up when time allowed she supposed as she watched the shuttle flying around the station to get into the queue for docking.

The docking procedure didn’t take as long as Devin had figured, she and the other transfers disembarked the shuttle in short order and she got the directions to meet with the shuttle bound for the Manhattan.

The shuttle was named Bronks. which got a few soft laughs from some of the other transfers being brought out to the Manhattan. Devin settled into her new seat and held her Sakura blossom bonsai in her hands so as not to risk anyone tripping over it. Her duffel was stored beneath her seat.

“Commander we show an incoming shuttle. It’s the Bronks from Event Horizon.” The ops officer announced. Shedda looked up from the PaDD in her hand. “Open channel.”

“Aye Cmdr. channel open.”

Shedda looked at the tactical officer who needed. Their codes and signals were correct. =/\=Permission granted Bronks.=/\= Shedda nodded and the comms officer closed the signal. She stood up, “Well, let’s see if I can beat Cochrane to the shuttle bay to greet our new arrivals this time.” The bridge crew chuckled, it wasn’t likely.

Devin was the fourth to disembark from the shuttle a few minutes after it was secure in the hanger bay. She had her duffel over her shoulder her Sakura blossom bonsai, in left hand and transfer orders in her right. She grinned slightly as the folks before her started talking about their departments and looked past them to see if there was anyone to check their orders.

The inner doorway parted as she was straightening up in the line the person behind muttered under their breath that kids shouldn’t be in uniform, Devin glanced back and grinned cheekily at the taller human man, “Cé mhéad teanga a labhraíonn tú fear dian (How many languages do you speak tough guy-Irish).”

The man blinked at her frowned and laughed shaking his head, “No clue what you said there but I will apologize for calling you a kid.”

Devin nodded and turned around as the folks in front of her had moved forward to start speaking with a higher ranked officer.
