Sorvk had made arrangements to meet with Sair and Koro on one of his days off. Wearing a robe that appeared to be made of linen, he was dressed more traditionally for his species, while not on duty. He stepped into the Botanical Garden and wandered around the entrance for a few minutes, and admired the view before he moved towards the pond. He quietly got to the meeting place that was set between them and he closed his eyes feeling the gentle simulated breeze upon his face.

A tiny shriek was followed by a giggle from around the other side of the pond that was sheltered by trees and shrubs. It wasn’t quite a wooded area yet, but as the garden matured it would become something of a thicket. A small form emerged dashing away and looking over his shoulder. It was Koro. Sair was right behind him but moving at a much more leisurely pace.

Hearing the shriek Sovrk’s eyes snapped open and he turned his head in the direction of the sound. Though seeing it was Koro he just gave a small nod and turned offering a small wave.

Sair saw Sovrk and smiled as she approached. “Good day,” she said as Koro ran up with much excitement. “Do you like the pond? It’s my favourite place!” he said, his brown eyes wide. Sair just grinned.

“Good day Councilor, Koro. How are you both?” His attention shifted down eyes turned to the face of the child. “It is quite beautiful. Looks like it would be refreshing.” He said and nodded. “There is a lot going on here it seems. Garden, farmland… a park I saw a techenical schematic, though holodrawing don’t really do many things justice. The pond is your favorite, really? Why is that?” He asked and raised one eyebrow.

“I like playing with the water!” Koro said.

Sovrk nodded. “I see. There is nothing wrong with that.”

Sair chuckled. “He’s always poking about with a stick. There’s a waterfall that turns into a stream that runs down The Hill and it actually feeds the pond here. it’s quite the elaborate system. I’m no engineer, but it’s quite the feat for a starship.”

“Some how that supprises me little. Many younglings are often curious about the world around them. So long as you don’t poke the wrong things I don’t think it would do any harm. Yes, I don’t remember exactly if they pump it back up to the top or if it’s deconstructed here at the bottom, then reconstructed at the top… but it is a marvel all the same.” Sovrk said thoughtfully.

“Do you like water?” the boy asked, gazing up at Sovrk with an eager grin.

“Water is nice, it is a vital resource that sustains much of life through out the galaxy as we know it. Though I am not so use to a pond or pooling of water such as this. Much of my home is covered in deserts and is hot. So it isn’t all that natural for water to be like this on the planet Vulcan. I do like water yes, but I don’t think I have the same affinity for it as you do Koro.” He explained softly and gently put his hand on top of the boy’s head, gently patting it. “Tell me, if you could grow anything in the gardens, what would it be?” He asked as he raised an eyebrow at the boy, curious of his answer.

His brown eyes lit up. “I like the flowers. The glass garden has really pretty ones, but over there”-he pointed towards the bow-side of the garden where there was a meandering path and some of the more formal gardens-“are nice ones as well. They smell nice.”

Sair smiled. “There’s a rose garden over there.”
“What are deserts?” Koro asked.
Sair grinned at Sovrk. She could answer her son, but she liked having others also be a part of his education and he seemed to want to learn things from everyone. He was very trusting that way and if she were honest, she envied that.

Sorvk looked throughtful then took a knee beside Koro. “Well a desert is a place where sand coveres the ground. Usually it is very hot during the day, and very cold of the night. It seems like it can be inhospitable to life, however it often teems with life that goes unseen.” He explained softly.
