“Again with the ominous foreshadowing” he laughed, “and here I was thinking we were going to get along so well. For the record, its Steinlager, cold, and if you really break something big time you owe me a pizza. Not the replicated kind but a whole one.”
“Good luck with that, Hevam,” she said with a teasing sort of grin, even as she had tossed the Romulan insult at him. “Out here? And with no appreciable cooking ability? You could be taking your life in your hands,” Faye retorted.
“I have a strong constitution” he grinned back, “plus I’m sure the galley can provide what you need if it comes to it, it’s surprising what they can whip up if needed, and i’ll even accept a pizza that’s only covered in cheese and pepperoni if that’s what it takes.”
Faye eyed him with amusement. “Well, can’t say this gal from the colonies ever made a pizza from scratch but should the unexpected happen, we’ll see what my skills can clobber together.”
Max scratched his chin and looked at his team below once again. “I better get back to work” he said and offered his hand once again with his plain smile back. “Nice to meet you Lieutenant Calloway, try not to break too much before we get out of dock, please?”
Lt Cmdr Wynter, CE
She shook his hand. “I’ll try,” Calloway said with a long suffering sigh.
The tiny form of Ens. Kaia popped out of a nearby Jeffries Tube. It was so easy for the small alien to crawl around in the Manhattan’s crawlspaces, since she was so much smaller than the average humanoid. “Hello, Leftenant Commander,” she said with a grin. Then noticing the non-engineer in the room, she turned to wave a small, four-fingered hand. “Who’s your friend, Chief?”
Ens. Kaia, ENG
Max had slightly raised his eyebrow, he wasn’t yet used to having a small alien capable if going places that the small Galdorian did with such ease, but it was certainly a boon.
With a nod, he Introduced the two. “Ensign Kaia, this is Leiutenant Calloway, Faye is our ships data specialist and is going to be working on a few things that might strain our EPS grid in a few spots. Shes going to let us know where and when, so we just need to monitor the grid and perhaps reduce the flow or route it alternately while the work takes place. The Leutenant is also rated level 3 In Engineering, so if we need an extra helping hand we can count on her aid.” Then, he looked back to Faye. “Faye this is one of my senior Engineers, Ensign Kaia. If I’m not on hand here, Kaia is the one you need.”
Lt Cmdr Wynter, CE
Faye didn’t actually need the introduction, but they wouldn’t know that, nor would they understand why. All the same, Faye pretended as if the introduction was needed. She did take in the diminutive engineer with curiosity and a respectful nod. “Hello. As I told the Chief, I apologize in advance if my work creates a mess, but I promise to help with the clean up.”
~Faye Calloway, Data Specialist
“Let me know when you get started” Max told Faye, “and if you need me around while your working on it, i’ll be happy to help. Things are running pretty well down here for now.”
Lt Cmdr Wynter, CE
“I’ll keep you apprised,” Faye reassured him. “I promised Lieutenant Hammor I’d inform him about my expected power draws, so I suspect you’ll get that info as well. But if not, just let me know and I’ll pass it along.”
~Faye Calloway, Data Specialist
Kaia’s first impression of Faye, from the behaviour that she had seen so far was that this “Data Specialist” was one of those people who thought they knew everything. She had that kind of high and mighty feeling of someone who knows something that they think is so important that whatever you know is dirt in comparison. The young engineer assumed that she probably wasn’t going to like her much. She looked at her CE quietly, then smiled at Faye again. “Well, I have a little more maintenance to finish, so I’ll be off,” she said, slipping back into the Jeffries’ Tube and closing the cover.
