Faye chuckled and shook her head. “Good thing I love you. No one rushes me,” she said with a grin as she all but sauntered into the lift.

Reaching their floor, Faye stopped at her door, holding the key card in her hand. “Dag?”

Words conveyed thoughts and emotions, but sometimes they failed a person. As she gazed deeply at him, Faye felt one overriding emotion: gratitude. Finally, knowing she needed to say something, she took a steadying breath. “Thank you. For earlier? It…” What? His actions and the way he had responded to her momentary overwhelm had made her feel seen and safe? Understood? Yes, all of that. “Just… thanks.”

Daggum paused at his own door and looked at her with an intensity in his eyes that made them seem like they were on fire. “Faye… that is what someone who loves you should want to do. And I do, so I did. If you want to thank me… just love me. Thats all I want… just you. Its been you since we met… it will be you when we are both long gone. And nothing… no injury, no illness, no episode, no anything is gonna change that. I love you not in spite of anything. I love you regardless. Parts of you are hard to wrap my head around, yes. But that doesn’t change the fact that they are still you. And all of you is what I love. Now go change. I’ll meet you out here in five.” and he went through the door.

Daggum

Faye stayed there, unmoving for a few seconds. But she was actually fine. Instead, she was letting her memory imprint this moment. His words, his expression, that look in his eyes. It was another page she was adding to her mental file on Daggum Hammor. The one that reminded her that he was different, but also that finally there was someone who just got it. Got her. “That I can do,” she whispered to the empty corridor before tapping her card and entering her suite.

A few minutes later, Faye stepped out wearing her favourite galaxy-print leggings and a black crop top that crossed at the back in an X and left her mid-riff bare. She wasn’t entirely sure what to expect when Dag suggested they do yoga in a holosuite, but he seemed game to do so himself so he was either humouring her or had an interest in yoga himself. And she wasn’t sure which she felt would be more likely. After all, if there was anything that was true it was that Dag was an unpredictable as she was. It was probably why they worked so well together.

Daggum’s door opened and he came out in long, form-fitting pants and t shirt; carrying a black bag.. The scars and markings on his arms were apparent as the green skin contrasted with the black shirt. Daggum looked at her and his eyebrows rose in appreciation. “Like the leggings.” he said with a grin. He offered her his arms and said “Shall we?”

For a brief moment she was distracted and it was two-fold: taking in Dag and also remembering what Kiama told her about allowing herself to herself as other saw her. Like Dag was looking at her right now. And in truth, the bare bit of skin she was showing off was her dipping a toe into that realm of increased intimacy. Could she be sexy and still fully covered? Absolutely. But the more she felt careful baring herself to him, the more easy everything else would become. And she wanted that desperately.

Slipping her arm through his Faye beamed. “Definitely.” Then she looked up at him. “And there’s more where those came from.”

They went to the lift and down, making their way to the hotel’s holosuite. The door opened at their approach and they walked into the black room with the yellow grid. Daggum said “Computer, provide beach scene, Earth, private. White sand, early evening, low tide and gentle waves. Execute.” There was a chirp and they were standing ion a long beach that curved far away towards the ocean to their left and right. Gentle waves lapped the sand, and the sun was low. Dag looked at Faye and said “This work for you?”

Daggum

“Almost,” she said with a smile, taking in the lovely vista. “Computer, create a three metre by three metre area in the sand that is compacted and flat. Firm but absorbent. And a dark purple yoga mat, one hundred and eighty centimetres long and 5 millimetres thick. ” A chirp and the sand shimmered, creating a space in the middle of all the loveliness where they could do yoga side by side. She glanced at Dag and gave a grin. “Don’t want to sprain an ankle in soft sand and I am on vacation and didn’t feel like washing my yoga mat later.”

Daggum looked at her and shook his head and made a tsk-tsk-tsk sound. He set the bag on the sand and then opened it, pulling out two yoga mats and two water bottles.

“Oops,” she said with a sheepish grin.

He looked at Faye and said “My one and only love… I work in Logistics.” and then he laughed.

Daggum

Faye laughed. “Computer, delete purple yoga mat,” she said with a wink at Dag. Moving over, she grabbed one of the mats he had brought for them and shook it out over the flattened sand. “So… yoga. How much do you do and what are you up for? I’m good for us to do our own thing, but I wasn’t sure if you had something in mind.” She had been doing it nearly daily since her rehab after the Romulans it had become a vital part of her life.

Daggum smiled and said “You do your thing, love. I’ll do mine.” He unfurled the other mat and spread it out several feet away. He looked at Faye and said “I love you.” and smiled and winked at her. He then faced the ocean and closed his eyes, taking several deep breaths. He then sat down on the mat and crossed his legs, sat with his back straight and his hands on his knees… and began meditating.
