Alex bent down and said “I’m not lying when I say it’s heavy. I actually had Operations beam the damn thing in here.” and he chuckled. “Ok. One… two… three!!” and he shoved the table towards the bedroom door.

Faye tightened all her core muscles, hunkering down to gain some space to actually get some leverage on the damn thing. Her goal wasn’t to actually lift it, but to allow it to slide backwards. Mindful of her feet so it didn’t crush her toes, they managed to shimmy it back. “Thank goodness for Starfleet PT and my yoga. A good way to give yourself a hernia,” she said dryly, moving back to the dining table.

“Yeah. If I had the choice, I’d fire the blasted thing out of a torpedo tube.” and he laughed. ‘But I can’t. It just ties the whole room together, you know?”

Tipping back the last of her wine, the stone rattled in the bottom of the glass. “You know I’m still analyzing this thing as much as I can without a scanner, right?” Faye said with a cheeky grin.

“Bring one next time. You can scan it all you want. The Academy did… it broke their scanner.”

Moving into the open space with a swagger in her hips, Faye felt light. “Okay, so where are we starting? You taught me the rock step last time we did dinner and I have watched some stuff but haven’t done any research. So all yours, Skip.”

Alex paused and said =/\= Computer. Play song list ‘Faye’s Dance Lessons’. =/\= There was a chirp followed by a pause. A few seconds later, music came forth. It was lively, but with a medium temp and beat. It started with a drum beat, but soon was joined by a full brass section.

The lively music made her break into a wide smile. While not the sort of thing she listened to on a regular basis, her eclectic music taste meant she appreciated just about everything.

“So first is the basic dance steps. We add flourishes later.” and he held up one and one out, inviting her into him to begin.

Faye stepped in and met his upright hand with her hand, and draped her arm on his with her hand towards his shoulder. Holding her upper body firmly, she relaxed her hips so she could move fluidly as he led her. Clearly she had done this before. “Basic is fine. I learn fast, so go as you will.”

“That’s what she said.” Cochrane said in the timeless corny joke that it seemed males from every species seemed to find hysterical.

Faye just cocked an eyebrow at him.

He began leading her through some basic steps, moving her in rhythm to the music and then, after a minute, began incorporating some turns. “Now… as we get used to how we move, we can try for a spin out and back. You ready?” he asked.

This time she was more prepared than she was during their impromptu lesson during pizza night. Faye nodded. She was finding her rhythm through the beat of the music quite easily and had to admit she was enjoying it too.

He pushed her hip out from him and curved his upper arm, causing her arm to cross her chest and her shoulders to turn quickly. The rest of her body followed and she spun out in counter-clockwise spin, only to be halted for a beat when she reached the end of his extended arm and then reversed back into him. She stopped when her chest met his and he laughed . “Good! That was great. You really are light on your feet, you know?”

Cochrane

“Yes, I do,” Faye said with a grin, elated it went so smoothly this time. “But so are you, so it makes it easier. Nothing worse than a quick style of dance and someone who doesn’t know their left foot from their right.” Dropping her hands, she beelined back to the table for a sip of water.

“I actually really do like dancing. Just don’t have much of a reason to dance with someone, so my stuff is mostly solo freestyle types,” she said as she moved back over.

~Faye Calloway

“Well, now you have reason to dance with someone else… me. At least until your time is taken up with other demands.” he said and gave her a crooked grin.

The next song came on and it was faster this time. “So now we are going to do the throw. You’ll drop and slide between my legs while holding onto my hands, then I’ll pull and swing you back, you’ll go up, and then land on your feet. Hard to do on carpet, but if we can do it here, the dance floor will be a piece of cake. Ready?”
