: : Poor Ensign Jalkov. He had only taken that single Counseling course at the Academy because he had to take a ‘medical related course’ to graduate. He was a scientist - specialising in anthropological and archaeological studies and he chose to study ‘The Doctor Is In, An Analysis of the Greatest Fictional Therapists from Lucy Van Pelt and Marvin Monroe to Frasier Crane and Charles Kruger’ to meet that requirement. How that qualified him to be a Counselor on a Starship was beyond Jalkov, it didn’t seem right to the Pakled, but he was honest enough to know that the captain was the captain and had to choose someone to be Counselor ‘just until a fully qualified one joined the ship’.

: : Of course, that was some time ago now and Jalkov would give anything to be back with the bones and the artifacts that were his pride and joy. But for now, he had a real life speciman in front of him, with real life issues, and Jalkov nodded to the Lieutenant Commander.

: : “Well, it made me feel annoyed,” the human officer replied, “you see I …”

: : “And why was that,” Jalkov asked.

: : “Because she cheated on me … with … my … father … and … my … nephew …”

: : “She was a Dabo girl?” Jalkov pushed.

: : “Yes … but she told me … she loved me.”

: : “Sir, if I may speak candidly and bluntly,” Jalkov asked.

: : “Go ahead,” the Lieutenant Commander replied.

: : “Have you lost your freaking mind? A dabo girl! You thought it would be a long and happy relationship to fall in love with a dabo girl? I know that we Pakleds have a reputation of being slow and … lets face it, dumb, But, a Dabo Girl? Did Reginald Barclay’s experience with a dabo girl not raise alarms with you? It was a storied case, after all. I don’t think a Pakled would fall for that, let alone a human … and your role as an intelligence officer on the Asimov … shameful, Lieutenant Commander, shameful and disappointing. Why, I have half a mind of reporting this to the Captain! You, Sir may have put the safety and security of the Federation at risk.”

: : “Well, we can talk about your inappropriate behaviour further next time, Sir. Next week, same time, same place, Lt Commander, and please, no more relationships with Dabo Girls,” Jalkov said, “you may go now, your time is up.”

: : The Lieutenant Commander rose to his feet and headed to the door, “next week then, Ensign.”

: : As the Lieutenant Commander left the office, he passed a Lieutenant coming the other way, one he hadn’t seen before.

: : “Sir,” the Lieutenant said, “I’m looking for the Counselor’s Office.”

: : The Lieutenant Commander looked the newcomer up and down, dressed in the colours of medical, the Lieutenant was shorter than him, was clean shaven and had shoulder length hair.

: : “Through that door, Lieutenant,” the Lieutenant Commander said, pointing to the door through which he had just exited, “be careful, the Counselor is not very understanding today.”

: : “Don’t worry, I’ll put it right, Sir,” the Lieutenant said, “if you want to discuss it further, why don’t you come and see me at some stage?”

: : “Sure, where’s your office?”
: :
: : “Through there,” the Lieutenant said, “I’m John-King McKenzie, the new Counselor. You’re about to get a professional in that office.”

: : “Good,” the Lieutenant Commander said, I look forward to it.

OOC Don’t worry Dave, I won’t. My character is back up and running now, and added to the roster, I presume you/Tyra just need to change his rank and position to Lieutenant and Counselor respectively?
