Keegan grabbed a NE runner to get the spare parts so they can establish internal communications.

The NE runner after an hour came back with the parts, or what he could find. It was 95% of the parts asked for.

Jon brightened a little surveying the haul in front of him. “Well, we can make this work,” he said. “A couple of them just won’t have private communications options.”

He began breaking apart the ship’s store of 5 PSP-1s, 3 Sentry guns, and 10 WTR-600s. (See spec page for further details <BG>)

“See, sir, what I’m going to do is mount these puppies here,” he said, holding up the base of the WTR-600, “to the bulkheads in mission-critical areas, and link them all together to form a rudimentary intercom system. There’s enough optic cable in the guns to run from the Bridge all the way down to Deck 7, so we’ll have 1 station on each deck, plus three to place in locations to be determined. Plus, we can use the headsets for private conversations, like an old telephone.”

“Um, forgive me for saying, but since the comm-badges are self-powered, wouldn’t we just need to modify them so we can tune them without using subspace and fall back on radio signals?” asked a crewman.

“That’s a short term solution,” Jon replied. “We don’t know how long we’ll be stuck here, or if there’s something on this planet that would interfere with that band of the EM spectrum either. Having a backup for if we’re here so long that the commbadges lose power isn’t the worst idea.”

“How soon can you get it up and operational Mr. Smythe?”

With another helping hand, Smythe could get his radio backup system / radio booster relay system up within 3 hours.

“Three hours or so, with an extra hand or two,” Thomas replied. “Sir.”

He really had to get better about adding that in the proper place, so it didn’t sound disrespectful…
