Once he had unloaded his belongings and gotten rid of Lucas, for now, Zen found himself standing outside of the CO’s office. He straightened his uniform and rechecked his Orders were correctly organised. He reached out and pressed the chime.

Natalie looked up “Enter.” She said standing up. Her left sleeve arm was rolled up and pinned, she looked tired and even more irritated. This whole business with the attacks and the Admiral popping up every where she turned. The traitor that they had in Sickbay. None of it made for a happy Captain. She was waiting for her new First Officer and hoped that they might have a fresh perspective on the current situation. She tugged on her jacket and waited for the person to enter.

Zenneth entered and stood at attention, he frowned slightly at the light brightness but didn’t flinch. “Commander Zenneth Kaida, reporting for duty Ma’am” he said and waited, deep red eyes staring directly ahead, for her to release him from the position.

“At ease Commander.” Natalie said “Have a seat.” She said as she took her own seat “How was your trip out here?” She asked “I appeciate you accepting the position so quickly. Tell me about yourself?” Natalie asked.

CO

Zen relaxed and when she indicated she sat down in the closest chair. “The trip was uneventful thank you. And I was happy to accept, a desk job for a period of time was beginning to get very boring.”

He considered her carefully with the bright red eyes. “ I was born on earth and was a Doctor before command. I trust starfleet sent you a copy of my file regarding the circumstances that resulted in my current appearance and…particular medical issue?” He asked.

Natalie nodded “THey have.” She said “And we have already prepared medical for your arrival.” She added “I’m throwing you right into the fire. We have a problem and I believe that there is an Admiral that is involved. She just seems to be popping up all over the place.” Natalie added “We are investigating a series of attacks on our Allies by a federation ship. Our current locations was supposed to be a Starbase, however, there is no record of a starbase ever having been here. So that is the first inconsistancy that we have. Her attache is in Sickbay under guard after he refused to follow orders on the Bridge and our former CoS stunned him.” Natalie laid it out for the new first officer “You are walking into a hotbed of intrigue and drama.” She said “I hope you are up for this challenge.”

Zen sucked air through his teeth, “no kidding captain.” He said and raised his eyebrows so high they nearly vanished into his light coloured hair. “Well I’ve never been one to shy away from a challenge. Where do you want me.” He said calmly.

“On the Bridge.” She said “My gut tells me that this is going to go to hell in a handbasket in very short order. I also want you prepared to abandon ship. I will stay on the Bridge as long as I can. Just beam me out as last moment as you can.” She said, her red hair and green eyes set and angry. “Admiral Burnett set us on this mission and there is something very wrong. I think she is behind it and I don’t understand why she is doing this. See what you can do to find information on her if you can. Work with our Intelligence people.”

CO

“Understood.” He said and stood, “let’s do this then Captain,” he mentally began preparing how he would carry out these orders if needed. Hopefully it wouldn’t come to that.
