Mwezi walked along the hallways of the ship, prim and proper in his uniform, patrolling and looking our for anyone who might need help, or anyone who wasn’t where they were supposed to be.

Having left his quarters, Harry was briskly walking down one of the corridors, looking down at the PaDD he had taken with him. There was still a huge amount of work to do to optimise the shield matrix; no doubt by the time he had done everything, it would be time for routine maintenance at space dock, where the Corps of Engineers could undo all of his hard work again.

He suddenly became aware of a large, 8 foot ‘presence’ a couple of metres away from him. He briefly flicked his eyes up to eye level, which settled on a familiar ‘cream coloured rug’.

“Ahh, Ensign Mwezi,” Harry said, raising a hand to his own chest, and dipping his head slightly, a lot less surprised than when they had first met.

Mwezi mirrored the gesture, nodding thoughtfully at Archer. “Greetings, Lieutenant. Everything going alright?”

“I am good thanks!” Harry said with a smile. “And please, call me Harry.”

“How are Kula and Shilo settling in?” he asked, remembering that the last time they had spoken, Mwezi was looking forward to his partners joining him on the ship.

“They are settling in fairly well. Kula has either joined or started about five different clubs,” Mwezi said with a chuckle, “and Shilo has been doing a lot of writing. They have been experimenting a little with holo-novels, but they have decided they prefer traditional writing. Pen to paper and all that. Have you been settling in well as Chief Engineer?”

Harry smiled. “I’ve been settling in well, thank you.” he said, gripping the PaDD in his hand tighter. “I’ve had plenty of opportunities to get acquainted with the ship’s systems, courtesy of Starfleet Corps of Engineers.” he continued with a grin. “Now that I’m more familiar, I can give you more of a guided tour than I did on day one.”

“Hah,” Mwezi briefly touched his collar, “I’m not exactly the XO anymore, like I was when we did that little walkabout. Security risk, and all that. Starfleet isn’t keen on an alien from an alternate timeline being a higher up in their command structure.” After the big demotion from the higher-ups, Mwezi had gotten a little less strict about his ‘big secret.’

Harry was unsure of how to act on Mwezi’s revelation of his background. Thinking it best not to draw attention to it, he continued the conversation.

“I did hear,” Harry said, unsure if Mwezi was disappointed or not. If he was disappointed, he was doing a good job in not showing it. “But the offer is still there,” he continued with a grin.

Mwezi shrugged. “It was inevitable. Something the Captain and I discussed when she first promoted me to the position. We weren’t in a great place at the time. She needed someone she trusted as her Number One, and I was the only one who wasn’t already a senior officer. Anyways, I would enjoy a tour, as long as it doesn’t interfere with your other duties.”

“Not at all,” Harry said with a smile. “I need to do the morning engineering brief, but I should be free after that.” He suggested.
