Harry chuckled softly as Mwezi caught himself in mid-flow. Even though Six Forward was fairly quiet, he knew that the ‘walls have ears’… or at least that is how the saying went.

“Oh that’s fantastic that they’re joining you,” he replied, referring to Mwezi’s family. “And thank you, I’d be delighted to meet them. You must be looking forward to seeing them again?” he asked.

“I am. I’ve spoken with them on video-call, but we have not actually seen one another since the return to regular operations,” Mwezi replied with a small smile. “It has been so long, I am looking forward to being able to spend time with them again after so long apart.” A world where civilians could live on a Starfleet vessel was such a joy.

Harry took a sip of his drink as Mwezi spoke, smiling softly at the Laleri’s obvious excitement.

“The one thing I think Starfleet excels at, is making sure families are looked after and that they can stay aboard ship. Although I hope you’re getting a family quarter!” He said with a grin.

“I believe that has been arranged,” Mwezi replied. “Do you have any family?”

“Only the parents and brother,” he replied with a soft chuckle. “Other than that, I’m still single… although I’m only 25, so there’s still time.” he said with a grin.

“So, tell me about your family. I figure I should know a little about them before meeting them!” he asked, before taking another sip of his drink.

“Certainly. I have two partners, Kula and Shilo. Kula is a brilliant scientist. She was on the cutting edge of research in Warp Physics before she… err, switched tracks. We have known each-other since we were pups, we grew up as neighbours. Shilo is a pilot, they might see if they can get a little job on the Asimov, piloting shuttles when necessary. We met them at the Academy, and it was Shilo who actually was the catalyst for Kula and I getting together. They are a very romantic person. I’m so happy they’re here with me.”

Harry smiled. “Aww, they both sound fantastic.” He said to Mwezi. “And I reckon they’d say the same about you,” he continued. “You seem to genuinely care about them.”

“I would quite literally cross universes to be with my partners,” Mwezi replied, chuckling to himself at something. “I would be quite happy to introduce you, once they arrive.”

“That would be great!” Harry said with a smile, before finishing the remainder of his drink.

“Would you like another?” He asked Mwezi.
