A shopping trip was so novel. The last time they were on a station, they ended up being chased, got in a fight, and Bethany had gotten cut with a knife and made herself sick from over exertion. Things were very different today.

Bethany was wearing the clothes she had bought when he was in surgery. It was a long black pant jumper, with wide tank top like straps. Then fabric sweeped down and around her shoulders and it had a wide open asymmetrical skirt. The skirt and shoulder pieces faded from solid black to a deep red. Her hair was down and she paired it with flat open toed black shoes.

Aasrel wore his own old clothes, abiding by his promise not to wear pirate clothes until they were back on the ship. He wore one of his long sleeved shirts, a pair of regular pants and shoes, and his white gloves. He was using his cane to support himself as he walked alongside Bethany. “So where do you want to go first?”

You look nice. She kissed him before they went out the door. She wished he hadn’t worn the gloves, but she knew that would take time. “Why don’t we start with you, while you are still rested? There is a shop just as we enter the promenade I think you will like.” Maybe you will see something for me too.

Thanks, he replied, kissing her back. You look gorgeous. He caught her thoughts, and pulled slightly at the gloves uncomfortably, but couldn’t bear to take them off. They’d have to stay for now. Aasrel smiled, “Okay, let’s go there first. Lead the way.”

Bethany blushed slightly. Thanks. It’s not what I usually wear, but I really liked it. She set a hand over his reassuringly as he tugged at the glove. It was okay if he still needed it. She led the way to the shop. “Here we are.” She waved toward the entrance with a slight flourish and a grin and followed him.

Aasrel took her hand and squeezed it gently. He went into the shop and looked around. “Okay, so.... Huh. It’s been a long time since I went shopping.”

“Well you look good in your nice slacks and shirts, but you are devastating in something more rustic, Rel.” She winked at him and perused through the racks. “I guess, what do you need for our trip. What kinds of things will we do?”
