Shara didn’t want to go but she would because she knew it was important. That and Micah would kick her ass if he found out she was being resistant. So fine.

She made her way to McMillan’s office and pressed the chime at precisely 1500 hours and hoped this wouldn’t be a mistake.

“Come on in,” Paddy called from the other side of the door. As they parted, the young Irishman greeted the Intel Chief with a warm grin, “Ah, right on time Commander, how have the first couple of hours in the new routine gone so far?”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

Shara shrugged. “What new routine? It’s just medication. It’s not going to be life changing in two hours,” she said.

Taking a seat, she studied him. “The telltale sign will be at night. We’ll know if it’s helping with the nightmares then.”

Paddy crossed his hands in front of him, “I’ve been meaning to ask, if I may be so bold, what is it you see in those nightmares?”

Shara pressed her hands into her thighs. “It depends, but it’s usually some version of someone I care about being in danger and either I’m too late to help them, or forced to do something I don’t want to. For a really long time it centered around Faye, but lately it has expanded to including my husband and eldest daughter.” Shara hadn’t mentioned having a second child and it wasn’t in her official record.
