Stepping out into the open space, Shara grinned at the XO while she kept a firm grip on her prisoner, phaser still to her head. “Well lookie there. We both played to our strengths. Nicely done,” she said with a nod of approval at Mwezi. She was better in the shadows anyway. Let someone else expend the energy if they were up for it.

Mwezi nodded, an almost feral grin on his face. It’d been a while since he’d really been able to expend this kind of energy in a fight. This kind of combat just wasn’t very common in this Timeline. Sure, he could spar in the Holodeck, but there was something special about fighting alongside another real person, in a ‘life or death’ situation, however simulated the situation was.

Leaning in against the woman so her head was inline with hers, Shara turned her head slightly so she was n the woman’s periphery. “Where’s the weapon? And don’t think about deceiving us. Trust me, I’m not going to kill you unless you make me.”

~Shara Calloway, CIO

The woman spat on the floor, muttering something in her alien language. The words slowly changed into Federation Standard, the UT “picking up” on the language and translating it.

“–will die – Federation scum.”

Mwezi watched for more aliens, sequestering himself behind a bit of a wall. He let out a shot every now and then, stopping anyone from interrupting Shara’s interrogation. He liked the idea of the two of them as a fireteam. Their strengths covered the other’s weaknesses, at least for this simulated mission. He grinned to himself.

Shara tapped the tip of her weapon against the woman’s head. “Oh come now, we don’t have to be like that. Or are you one of those oh so tragic self-sacrificing individuals who will die for now good reason because they think it will matter?” She leaned in closer and whispered in the woman’s ear. “Where’s the weapon?”

~Shara Calloway, CIO

The woman bared her teeth. “You’ll kill me anyways after I tell you. Why not just get it over with? I will tell nothing.”

Mwezi, XO

“I don’t kill people unless absolutely necessary. Besides, a hostage can be useful. You’re still coming with us,” Shara said sweetly, pushing the woman forward towards the door.

Shara gazed at Mwezi as they approached. “Pick a direction and keep a path clear. We’re going to have to suss this out ourselves, unless Madame here wants to play nice.”

~Shara Calloway, CIO

Mwezi nodded, glancing around before gesturing in a direction with a shrug. The alien woman snarled at Shara, lifting her upper lip in an expression of distaste.

“Intel suggests the target is quite large. It looks like there is more ship in that direction,” Mwezi commented, gesturing in the direction he’d indicated before.

Mwezi, XO

“Take point,” Shara said. I’ll cover you.” And so she would as it was easier with her hostage in tow to react to things ahead if he could react first and she could provide backup.

“If the target is that large, we’ll have to be prepared to to take appropriate action. But if it requires creative solutions, know that I’m skilled at computer programming and getting past security systems,” Calloway told Mwezi.

~Shara Calloway, CIO

“Hacking would be helpful, if we can find a terminal…” Mwezi agreed, glancing around.

“You get me there, I can do the rest,” Calloway said, keeping a firm grip on her prisoner, her weapon still pressed against the woman’s back most of the time.

He began to move forward, phaser at the ready as they navigated the winding hallways of the strange ship. It felt distorted, with hallways sometimes jutting off at angles that made them impossible to traverse and areas exposed that felt like they shouldn’t be. This ship had gone through something, some strange experience that had left it scarred.

“Another group of hostiles,” Mwezi muttered softly as he peered around a corner. “Three of them. Looks like one of them is some kind of commander… or at least their outfit is more ostentatious than the others.”

Mweezi, XO

Shara was much more a hide in the shadows person and rarely engaged in fights unless absolutely necessary. That had been true before and after she earned her commission. But she didn’t see a way through this unless they were willing to help and that seemed a stretch. “Two options: we find another route, or one of us goes first to act as a distraction and the other takes them out. Given my friend here”-she shook the woman slightly-“I think it’s obvious whose doing the shooting. Unless you have another idea,” she said softly.

~Shara Calloway, CIO

Mwezi considered it, then fiddled with his phaser for a moment, setting it to Maximum. “Give me a moment… Let’s get some target practice.”

He pressed up against the wall, then spun into full view of the trio, letting off three precise shots before ducking back into the shadows on the other side of the hallway. A moment later, there were three thuds as the bodies hit the floor. Mwezi grinned at Shara. “Guess my practice earlier paid off.”

There was a reason that his time as an officer had been in Security.

Mwezi, XO

Shara smirked. “Come on Princess, let’s keep going,” she said to her captive. She was willing to just stun the woman if needed but for the moment she felt it useful to keep someone with them, even if it slowed them down a little.

“Let’s keep going, we’re still on the clock as it were.” Shara could fight like hell when and if needed, but she was best at other things and right now she just wanted to get to their target.

~Shara Calloway, CIO

Mwezi glanced back at Shara and her captive, who had paled slightly at how quickly and easily her comrades had been downed. “So, still unwilling to talk?”

The woman glared at him, still saying nothing. “Maybe we should ditch this one and find a more talkative one?” Mwezi suggested as he slunk down the hallway.
