Siadra had sensed him behind them, but it was only now that she was speaking that she looked at him. And then at Shara with a slightly raised eyebrow. But she didn’t say anything.

Micah grinned and said “See folks? Few weeks of marriage and she thinks she got me all figured out.” he looked at the CO and XO and winked “Prolly does, too.” and he smiled.

Shara snorted. Her state as a newlywed was one of those things that she hadn’t fully decided how to handle, but it was out so it was probably about time to update her file formally. Details.

Hallsley smiled and said “Captain, Commander… allow me to introduce Senior Federation Security Agent Micah Pikelsimer. He will be accompanying you on your little excursion.

Micah smiled and leaned over and kissed Shara on the cheek. “We’ll talk later, hun. Promise.” and took a seat. “FedSec will be altering all personnel records at the appropriate time to reflect either dead or wanted status for everyone assigned to the Asimov.” and he looked at Shara. “Considerations have been made for past service, Commander. Now why don’t ya have a seat and the Admiral can continue.”

Oh yes, they would definitely be talking, one way or another. Shara took a seat again , though her arms

Hallsley nodded and said “Right. This is a Special Projects operation only with me. Federation Security is, apparently in the loop in some form or fashion, but that is up to Agent Pikelsimer to discuss. I can tell you from personal experience… he probably won’t.”

“That being said,” Hallsley continued, “Agent Pikelsimer is intimately familiar with the circumstances surrounding the agent in question. He is the one who extracted him from the Shadow Syndicate to begin with. I know his assistance will be of merit to you and your crew.” Hallsley looked at Siadra and said “I do hear your concerns, Commander. I do. But sometimes we must risk the one to save the many.” He looked at everyone.

Her brows knitted and her lips pressed so hard against each other they were forming one very thin line, Siadra looked at the Admiral. She couldn’t really argue against that argument, but that didn’t mean that she had to like it. Or that she had to like the plan.

“The Asimov will leave dock en route for an exploratory mission to the Cantreken Nebula. There, you will experience a catastrophic core failure and be lost. That will be the public story. Intel will be fed disinformation of various phrasing and timelines stating there was a pseudo-mutiny, and a faction of the crew led by Captain Keirnan took the ship and executed loyal Federation crew. Depending on what information is found to have been passed to the Shadow Syndicate, we will have an idea of who at Intel may be compromised. You will spend three weeks in the nebula. During that time, your ship will be modified and disguised. Core components will be removed and your ability to contact or access Star Fleet resources will be cut. Your crew will undergo temporary surgical modification… not all, but a lot. They will either be disguised as someone else… or made to look as if they have been through hell and back. Mr. Pikelsimer will assign who gets what. From that point… you are on your own. You will make contact and insert the asset, work with them if possible or on your own to gain access to the Shadow Syndicate roster, and gather what information you can. When either the Agent or Mr. Pikelsimer decide enough is enough, they call it and you come home. We return everyone to normal, and hopefully laugh about this in a few years over whiskey. Questions?”

Hallsley

Shara would need to sit down and work out the nitty gritty. The basic plan pretty straight-forward, but the part of her that was rejecting the whole damn and she wanted nothing to do with it all. Her mind was warring with her heart right now. It was duty to the Federation versus duty to her family and it was making her feel more than a little ill.

“Many,” Siadra said rather flatly as she tried to keep all the emotions in check that were boiling up inside her. “The most pressing one for me is one I hope you have already foreseen as you know my personnel file. I have a young daughter and as a single parent she is on the Asimov with me. How will you explain her presence on a pirate ship? Because no, I’m not willing to leave her in the care of someone else.”

~Cmdr. Enai, XO

Hallsley looked at Enai and said “If I read the roster correctly, you are not the only one with children on board, Commander. You all made the choice to have your children with you; knowing the inherent risks associated with that choice. In that frame of mind… they’re your children. If you as their parent want to put them in that environment, I won’t stop you. Hell, I know more than a few current officers that grew up on Star Fleet ships. But kids or not, Commander… the mission comes first, this one or any other one. Thats the job. So explaining their presence on board? Thats entirely up to you. Personally, I’d do whatever I could to keep them out of the sight as much as possible.”

Micah cleared his throat. “The kids are gonna be listed as lost along with the ship. If’n y’all got family who is gonna be notified, well… thats just gonna have to be what happens. Sorry, Commander.”

Hallsley / Pickelsimer

Sara pondered. “We can go over some potential plans for ways to keep the kids safe, bring engineering in on modifications we may need to make. We’ll find a way.” She paused before moving on. “With the full understanding that for some time the ship and crew will be treated as missing, how do we correct this upon our return?”

-Captain Sara Kiernan, CO

Admiral Hallsley nodded at the question and said “I have copies of all personnel and ahip’s logs current to today. We will do a final backup before the ahip’s computer core is segmented from Fleet and Federation systems. You will have a full database uploaded, but anything new during your… respite… will have to be uploaded when you return. As far as your return goes, however…” and he looked at Pikelsimer.

GM

Pikelsimer looked at the group and said “Our current extraction plan is pretty simple. We’re just gonna get arrested. Won’t be hard, there’ll be plenty of warrants to get us taken in. That will in turn trigger protocols I have put in place personally. They arent instant, mind you, so we’ll spend a few days, maybe a week, as prisoners. By then FedSec will have everyone straightened out and back to their normal selves; records, faces… everything.”

Pikelsimer, FedSec

“Alright. But here’s the guarantee I need. The risk to their families Commander Enai and the others assumed was one of physical risk, not forced separation. Upon our return, families will be kept as units and also if anyone’s record need reflect a history of criminal activity it should be mine.” She sighed “That said, let’s make the appropriate preparations for the ship. Is there any additional information we need about where we’re going?”

-Captain Sara Kiernan, CO

The Admiral said “Thats a guarantee you’ll have to talk over with FedSec. I can make sure it happens while Star Fkeet has you… after that I have no say. I will say I have it in writing that no one will have a criminal record after this… well, unless you do something truly heinous, but I trust your judgement Captain Kiernan and Commander Enai.”

“And when does Agent Blue arrive? We’re going to have a lot to talk about,” Shara said quietly. By this point she had just shut off her emotions. It was too much to deal with and would cloud her judgement.

Commander Calloway, CIO

“They arrived day before yesterday in anticipation of this. Came in as regular crew transfer. If it fell through, then they’d just have been transferred off after repairs were done and before you left. They have a briefing for all of you and your Department Heads as well.”

Hallsley

“Very well.” Sara nodded, doing rapid calculations in her mind. “Let’s bring him onboard and get this process underway. Commander Calloway, as the resident Intelligence expert, I’ll ask you to greet him and get a read on the situation.”
