Counseling assessments. If there was one thing that any sane Fighter pilot hated more than Medical examinations and autopilots, it was Counseling assessments. Yell Banzai one too many times while buzzing the Bridge of a Starship or the Ops centre on a Starbase and it was off to a Counseling assessment. Play Chicken with your wingman to see who had the better nerves and it was off to a Counseling Assessment. Take a shortcut through an asteroid field during an Ion Storm and it was off to a Counseling assessment.

Okay, that last one might be a reasonable cause for an assessment, but it was still a heck of a lot of fun. Rovan smirked to himself as he stepped out of the turbo-lift and walked the few short strides to the Counselors door. Being once again an Engineer meant that his days of piloting a Compsognathus were all but over. But, you could never really take the fighter out of the pilot, even if this return to his new old career was what he wanted now that he had a family of his own. Reaching the door he grinned at an Ensign walking past who nodded in sympathy at the Lieutenants destination, his yellow Ktarian eyes with horizontal slits making that grin look dangerous. It was a look he had perfected many years ago, and was almost as identifiable among pilots as the fighter pilot swagger. Hitting the chime, Rovan waited for the inevitable reply.

“It’s open,” came the reply in a lilting Dublin accent. As Moor crossed the threshold, he noticed the well built, auburn haired figure of Lieutenant Patrick McMillan, standing over a replicator unit, “One Irish Coffee, single strength.” Looking up, the young man grinned, “Ahh, you must be Rovan Moor, our new Chief,” Paddy extended a hand, “Lieutenant Patrick McMillan, Paddy to me friends, sit yourself down and I’ll get you a drink if you fancy?”
