Posted by Lieutenant Commander Alexander Cochrane (XO) in CNS Office - Attn. Lt. Cmdr. Cochrane Posted by… suppressed (2) by the Post Ghost! 👻 : : : : : : : Once she had managed to find herself in a place of certainty, as opposed to the hectic nature of being a new arrival to a starship, she found that it would be best to get psychological evaluations done. As it would check it off for another year, and allow her to get to know the crew. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Skimming through the list, she chose to start from the top, and make her way down. This would be a long process, no doubt. Tapping the comm, she spoke simply: =*=Delarosa to Commander Cochrane, do you have time to come down for a psychological evaluation?=^= : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Delarosa : : : : : : : CNS : : : : : : : : : : : : There was slight pause and then the comms chirped. =/\= I think I can spare a few moments, Counselor. Is now a good time, or do you want to schedule a time? =/\= came the relaxed and friendly voice of the Executive Officer. : : : : : : : : : : : : Cochrane, XO : : : : : : : : : : =^=Now is perfectly fine, sir. Feel free to come down, whenever you happen to be ready.=^= Roux responded, in tune. She wasn’t almost relieved that he could get the meeting dealt with, now. It marked one more officer off of the list. : : : : : : : : : : Delarosa : : : : : CNS : : : : : : : : A few minutes later, Alex was in front of the door to the Counselor’s office. He pressed the chime and waited, making sure he wasn’t interrupting any crewman’s current dealings with the new CNS. : : : : : : : : Cochrane, XO : : : : : : Roux was currently unbusied, for the very notation that the officer would soon be arriving to have his psychological evaluation done, before he could return to whatever task he had previously at hand. “Come in!” Roux called, remaining behind the desk, her hands clasped on its hard surface. : : : : : : Delarosa : : : CNS : : : : The door opened and Cochrane entered. He smiled broadly and warmly, and said “Lieutenant Delarosa. A pleasure. Are you settling in well since your arrival?” : : : : Cochrane, XO : : “As well as I can be, sir.” Roux rose her head, once more, an amicable smile spreading quietly across her features. “Do have a seat; how are you doing today? Anything bothering you?” : : Delarosa : CNS Cochrane took a seat as directed and said “Actually, I am doing quite well. Still getting the handle of the new role a bit, but haven’t made too many people angry I don’t think.” he said with the same warm smile. Cochrane, XO

Roux offered a gentle chuckle, her head shaking, in a manner meant to be completely friendly. “You are new to being an Executive Officer, then?” She inquired, leaning back into her chair. This could have been seen as two ways, her reasoning was to appear less cold and more inviting. However, to Cochrane, it could have easily been a way to be more comfortable. “If I may ask, what department did you work in, prior, Commander?”

“Security and Tactics, mostly. But I also studied diplomacy and exo-relations with an emphasis on negotiations and cultural assessment.” he replied.

Cochrane, XO

“Did you ever find yourself in a state where you did not enjoy the department you had chosen?” Roux inquired, making certain that his file was pulled up onto her PADD, for further reference.

Cochrane smiled a bit and shook his head. “No, Counselor. I’ve had days where things happened that made me hate the circumstances I found myself in. And I have made decisions in the past that I regret. But even with those, I feel I mostly made the best call for the information I had at the time. But these times are indicative of my choice of department.” and he grinned. “I don’t have the patience to be a scientist or the meticulousness to be an engineer. And my bed-side manner is lacking, so that put Medical right out. So… Security it was.”

Cochrane, XO

“Oh, I’m sure you could have made a brilliant doctor, after all, there are so many of the medical field that had undesireable bedside manner.. but get the job done and done well.” Roux mused, tapping her stylus silently against the mid of her small thigh. It was a distraction, for her. Not from Cochrane; no, of course not, but from the remainder of the world around her. Which, unlike Cochrane’s claims at being hardly a meticulous person, Roux was hypersensitive to her surroundings. But that was a story for another time. “Would you say there was any specific event or assignment that was truly rewarding, for you?”
