Catt was one to focus on the tasks set before her. She had discovered the hard way that to much unscheduled time led to her whimsy getting the better of her. After she had spread a fair amount of grease all over Engineering and royally angered the Chief Engineer on the Challenger she had made a serious effort to curb that part of her personality when off the holodeck. The dressing down Captain Shottington had given her had stayed with her. Ok it hadn’t been over that incident but it was hard to seperate the two events they happened that close together. So she had made a point of scheduling her on arrival duties with little time between them and intended to get to work as soon as possible. No more Miss Screwup is thought to herself. She arrived at the counciling office and chimed the bell exactly on time.

At that time Guy was still not the Chief Counselor aboard the ship - his only job was to welcome secondary patients from the Head Department office so that the queue was short and the work was equally distributed between colleagues. But that day (for a reason or another) the Chief Counselor was sick and the next in line to hold the higher rank back then was indeed Guy.
“Oh crispy! Who’s at my door at this hour??” He looked grumpy the clock and checked immediately the PaDD for clarity “Hmpf. Not a single time that I can eat my damn Pancakes alone! Well, Catt Bennet hm?”
As he posed the dish into the replicator and adjusted his uniform, he sat on the Sofa and said loud and clear “Come In.” His only regret that day was, to have accepted the CCO position: indeed for the entire day shift, his work was a continuous annoyance to the Ego of Mr. Freeman.Lieutenant Freeman, Guy - Chief Counselor Officer
Catt entered and stopped short. She didn’t need to be a empath to tell that the CNS was unhappy. While she had spent her life surrounded by humans she still had
A Caitan’s sensativity to body language. She glanced at her padd. It was the right time she had sceduled the apointment yesterday. So instead of introducing herself she
Bristled, that is her fur puffed our in a instictive attempt to look bigger and tougher to possibly prevent aggression. She was to small, too cute and the white fur did not lend itself well to this type of display. She felt rediculous. “Something is wrong. You are angry. What did I do other than be on time for my scheduled apointment?”, she squeeked out in her soft tone.Ensign Catt Bennet. Science.
Guy did not spoke, he looked down the floor. After taking a break he said gently “nothing Ensign. I am… just me. Get a seat while I take the necessary to make the check-in. Right? You are here for the check-in?” He reconfirmed
As said he went to his desk and took paper, clipboard and pen: he was unusually in his work and he preferred writing stuff down with the old method. Then approaching the replicator he ordered a tea, earl grey and the rage suddenly vanished “May I offer something, Ensign? Something to eat, something to drink?” Guy asked to Bennet
Catt was watching the man the entire time. Forcing herself to calm down. She smoothed down her fur as he was busy with the replicator and sat on the chair at a angle so as not to kink her tail. She had arranged herself so that she faced the interviewer with the chair at a angle by the time the councilor sat down.
“Ensign Catt Bennet. Xeno sciences sir. “, she told him in her soft voice. “”And yes I need my psychological intake interview.”, she continued in the same soft purr. She wasn’t going to allow the CNS to shake her confidence that easily. His anger might of been a test of her reactions for all she knew. Every councilor had a different approach. It made her wonder just what the academy taught the councilors as there really did not seem to be any standard approach.Ensign Catt Bennet. Sciences.
“Nothing? Ya know I can’t offer “Ensign Catt Bennet as a drink.” He joked making a brief laugh and turning serious in no time.
Then after no reply by the Ensign, Guy was there with his tea, sipping it like a gentleman. He approached Mrs. Bennet and sat on the sofa he actually loved.“Well, let’s start, shall we?” He looked the Caitian taking the clipboard, paper and pen “Tell me something about you. Name, birth of place, whatever you feel to be talking. But please be brief and complete. I won’t share the entire day for only a woman.”
Guy was like this: cold, direct, a bit of a jerk. His character was nothing but an unloved stone statue that did not had any kind of affection nor any praise. That’s what shaped Guy.Lieutenant Freeman, Guy - Chief Counselor Officer
Catt hrmmed, “I was born on the transport Rising Star enroute to the prefederation Earth sleeper colony of McHenries World. My patents were teraformers. My name is M’Namree but after I was bought and returned to the Federation the Bennets adopted me and their son called me Cat. So I go by Catt Bennet. Which is the name on the adoption papers.”, she said softly. “Since you do not want to waste time talking to a Woman all day, You will likely be happy to note that under Caitan custom I am in fact not considered a woman or female. I am sterile and as such have no standing on Cait or in Caitan society. I am a embarrassment. But do not be concerned about that. It does not matter to me what arrogant matriachs think of me. Just as your opinion on spending your time with a female in no way bothers me. I am a scientist, That is how I self identify councilor. As there is little else about me I think needs sharing I would like to go get to work. Oh and no I do not want any beverage.”, she said softly only her tail moving as she spoke looking past the councilor rather than at him.

“Hm. Alright.” Guy whispered writing stuff on the clipboard “tell me Ensign, what about the Academy, how did your period on an academic ship passed? From reports I received your service status is good, beside some problems and stuff. I want to know your point of view: if these problems still… persist in your character. Or maybe I’m wrong and those problems ain’t nothing serious.” Guy looked straight Catt with cold eyes, rising an eyebrow and the clipboard dividing Catt and Guy’s face.

Catt flicked a ear and her tail slowed as she dropped her gaze to the desk top. “The Academy was fine. I spent a lot of time in the Gardens. It was very nice to be able to make myself useful while there. As for my time on the Challenger it was a learning experiance. Now that you bring it up my time there started strangely with the Councilor of that ship being weirder and more disturbing than you are. But he was a good officer once you got him out of his office and he stopped acting like he was mentally unstable. Who knows maybe you are as well. But I an not amused by your antics. Do you have any actual questions or are we done? See on the Challenger I was trying to hard to make everyone happy. I learned that doesn’t work. So I settled into treating people exactly as good or badly as they treat me.”, she looked at her padd and stood. “Look at that, our time is up. I need to get to my other duties. Have a nice day.” And she was out the door and down the hall. Wondering if CNS training turned everyone who took it into antisocial monsters. She had a lot to do after all, a new ship. A new crew and a bright future.

Guy did not shouted, nor moved a finger after the Ensign self-concluded the outcome of her own session. But with a gentle manner, he only knew showing to himself, he went to the replicator and took again a dish of pancakes, sitting back just afterwards on the comfy sofa.
“Well, incomplete discipline by Bennet. But I assume her behavior is just enough to manage this ship.”
Concluding his thought he took the PaDD and wrote a report about the meeting: he graced Catt’s behavior and concluded that the Ensign was suitable for service as long as she maintained calm and discipline within the Starfleet parameters. Although Guy warmly recommended to the Ensign to terminate the session the next time she was to come again for a counseling application and to reply with decency at the question to her asked.
“Now, back to pancakes.” And told so he started to nimble his precious breakfast.
