Domingo pulled Katie to her feet before leading her away from the table. With enough room to maneuver for dancing, he placed one of her hands on his shoulder before putting one of his on her shoulder blade. He held her free hand a bit between them and to the side.

“I’ll lead.” Domingo uttered barely over a whisper, “We’ll take it slow. Just try to keep your feet moving in mirror to mine.”

Putting words to action he took a step forward with his left before moving it back in line with his other foot and then taking a step back with his right. He kept an easy rhythm to the music, just stepping forward and back without any variations just yet.

Katie flushed again as she was doing a poor job of concealing her discomfort. She limply allowed him to position her hands as he liked and tried to follow his movements to the music, mirroring his steps. She was relieved to find that it wasn’t too difficult at all and that there was enough space between them that she didn’t feel too comfortable with the proximity. Soon, she felt her eyes drifting shut as she tried to relax into listening to the music, but she soon stumbled, falling against Chavez’s chest with a gasp.

Domingo stopped dancing and just held Katie to his chest while she regained her footing.

“I’ve got you.” He said softly. His heart was drumming powerfully in his chest as the proximity was reduced to nothing. He was almost certain that she could probably hear it.
