Ranlei stepped into the tent after making her presence known and waited till someone aknowledged her. Turning to the COO and the Archeologist she cleared her throat.
“The drill is repairable but is old and fussy. I can’t guarantee it won’t break again ten minutes after I fix it. So I would like to replace it entirely with a modern unit that is not sonic based as I imagine the subharmonics must cause every creature with better than human hearing considerable pain and discomfort. While I am at it is there anything you need or want fixed in particular?”, she asked as so far her instructions were to repair things with no list of what exactly needed to be fixed.

Shanok turned to Ranlei, “..I will be outside in a moment Ensign to inform your teams in more detail of what is needed to assist me.” He said.

Turning back to Trax. “..I trust your scans are complete?” he asked, which they were showing as noted before to the CMO the Vulcan was in surprisingly good head for being on his own and alone for several years.

Then also turning to Trainor he said, “..I will task your teams with some work to help me among the ruins of the Lawgiver, in the meantime perhaps you can tell me more of these Gurdian guests you have aboard your ship now? Without information into who or what they are looking for or without meeting them in some way I can not be of much help.” He stated.

Ranlei shrugged ans stepped outside. She started cataloguing every piece of technology on site. Linking her tricorder output directly into her padd. Linking the padd to her comunicator so that the ships computer identified the equipment. It’s age. Who made it. What it was used for and it’s state of repair. The Vulcan expected a team of engineers, It seemed. What the away gteam had was her. But Ranlei was very efficient at doing things. She had to be because she like most of her species was a lazy hedonist and prefered to work smart and avoid heavy lifting. She finished her spiraling path round the camp and headed to the drill, where the Scientist was supposed to meet her.

Simon held up a hand for Ranlei to wait and asked “you mentioned that Ranlei might need to deal with the wildlife, what sorts of flora and fauna will we encounter on the way there?” he asked Shanok. Based on what Shanok said, he had a feeling the journey to the drill wasn’t going to necessarily be free of disturbances.

Ranlei stopped, “It’s why I have only scanned the technology here so far sir. Rodents, snakes and insects will infest machinery given half a chance. The drill in particular might be inhabitted as the access panels were left off.”, she replied before the Vulcan could respond. She had alreay walked over a fair part of the camp so imagined this must be what the Scientist meant.

”..As your fellow ensign stated the local wildlife is mostly made up of rodents snakes and insects and the like. The access panel was off because I was trying to fix the drill myself without much success.” He said.

Ranlei smiled, A Vulcan admitting someone else was correct was as close as most Vulcan’s came to complimenting someone. So she took that as a compliment even if he had ignored her suggestions and not replied to the options she had given him. That also was typical Vulcan. He had stated his preference and wasn’t going to aknowledge any other opinions. “Oberlieutent Starr. Shall we go forth and boldly keep my posterior safe while I fix ancient relics before The Daystrom institute sends out another expidition to
Study the equipment in use by this expidition and Herr Doktor.”, Ranlei quiped with her usual amused irrevrence.
