Ranlei looked at Katie and sighed, “Ah well You may be seeing a few broken hearted men then. Ihave a bad track record when it comes to be exclusive. I had a bit of a run in with our Chief Science officer. Kinda kissed her in the mess hall. But problem hwise I have one gI can’t solve for myself. I was trapped in a environmental suit recently for several days. I woke up in the suit manicled. Ihave recurring panic attacks in tight enclosed spaces. So I have used the jefferies tubes and crawl ways to move about. As turbolifts set me off. I wasn’t going to bring it up as I have a few trust issues with women. Not a unrea2sonable thing as since I hit puburty most women react badly to me. But I kind of need to get over the claustrophobia.” , Ranlei sighed and started to regret saying anything xat this time.

Katie laughed internally. This always seemed to happen… right as an evaluation was about to conclude, the crew member would list off a series of other talking points that they needed to discuss. Outwardly, she carefully kept her features neutral. “Is the claustrophobia something that you’d like to work on?” she questioned softly. Sometimes people were happy and accepting of their limitations, so she didn’t like to assume that everything needed to be fixed.

She sighed. “The crawlways are about two minutes slower to get from point A to point B. People are inclinde to see the worst case when it comes to me and I am not my best me if I alow a phobia to control me. At some point I will need to don a eva suit to do repairs to something outside the ship. So Katie I need to resolve this before someone uses it as a reason to transfer me to a planet. So yes I want to fix this. So far my efforts to confront my fears have failed miserably.”, she said and smiled rather wanely. “Besides Katie this is the second best conversation with another female I have ever had. The other one was only better because We ended up kissing. Iwasn’t expecting to end up hazed by the experiance.”, and she smiled again and fidgited with her hair.

Katie smiled again. “Well, there are some good women out there,” she commented lightly. “Romantic relationships are challenging no matter what sex the participants are. I’d be happy to work through some exposure therapy so we can tackle that phobia, though. The basic premise is employing mindfulness techniques in order to decrease your physiologic response to the stimulus. The holodeck offers several scenarios for this type of phobia and I’d be happy to set you up with them or be present to work through them with you.”

Ranlei shrugged “It wasn’t exactly a romantic moment. It was more that I have had some very bad experiances with females who assume I threaten the fidelity of their relationship so I tend to shy away from women who are being extra nice in what can only be called self defence. So she was being insistant about us doing a excercise program together. I was uncomfortable so tried to disengage and she ordered me to participate. Iobliged the request by kissing her. She may not of meant it in a sexy ual manner but I am a Green Orion . Sexuality defines pretty much every time interaction I have ever had with every person I have ever met. Which includes the Aznaxian Ambassadors son. Think of a squid only twice as many tenticles intelligent and they have a helium gas bag so float in the air. Fun date though.” Ranlei said with a great deal of amusement and a mischievious grin, She was likely pulling the councilors leg but her smile actually got brighter as she seemed to reflect on the memory. Snapping out of it she said, “Yeah Doc that sounds good. Ihaven’t been able to deal with it on my own.”, as she tried to bring her thoughts back to business.

“If you were uncomfortable with that situation and power was misused, I hope that you filed a report with the appropriate chain of command,” Katie murmured, her voice and her facial expression growing serious and concerned despite Greene’s attempt at levity.

Ranlei shrugged. “While I am sure ordering someone to spend time with you to form a friendship isn’t strictly proper. I admit to being flattered by the attention. I am rather aware of the fact that I tend to discourage women from getting close to me and came to realise that I am at fault in some of the incidents I have had with women because by evading them I made myself seem suspicious to them. No truth is Katie I kissed her thinking it would make her uncomfortable and get her to leave me be. So if anyone was improper it was me. What I did not expect was her to be comfortable enough to kiss me back. So I ended up triggering my own libedo and left in a hurry for a ice cold shower.”,
Ranlei said and shrugged again. ” So while I am not overly interested in experimenting with women to be honest once triggered my options narrow significantly. It’s a hair trigger by design. I earned some extra credit in the sciences and medical fields by letting then run tests while at the academy. I and the science students learned a great deal about what makes me tick.”, Ranlei said fairly bemused by where the conversation had turned.
