It took her a few moments, but Katie soon relaxed into his embrace, letting her head fall onto his shoulder as the fingers through her hair comforted her through her nerves at being so close to him. Some of the tension melting out of her body was because he hadn’t pushed her on more details about the psych eval she had gone through in between the Dresden and the Ark Angel. She closed her eyes and focused on matching her breathing in time with his for a few moments before picking her head up to comment, “we should both probably get back to work.”

“In just a moment, please. I’ve been kept running and busy since we left the Dresden. This moment of peace with you is much needed and I never want it to stop.” Domingo replied before settling back into the embrace for another moment.

He finally pulled away after what seemed like the briefest of moments. He had an awkward smile now as he said, “Sorry if that was too clingy. It was just so relaxing being in your arms again. Oh, I did have a reason to see you alongside getting a hug. I was hoping you’d honor me with a second date. I promise no tequila, but instead a nice red wine along with a homemade dinner.”

Domingo had a look of nervousness after giving the invitation. He wasn’t sure what to do with his hands and kept clasping and unclasping them.

Katie squirmed slightly in his arms, not necessarily out of discomfort but more impatience at the longer embrace. Chavez’s nerves and awkward smile got to her, though, and she planted a gentle kiss on his lips before responding, allowing her eagerness to slip into her voice, “that sounds wonderful. I would love to.” Another quick brush of her lips emphasized her excitement.

Domingo smiled widely after the quick kisses, delighted at Katie’s response.

“Okay then. Cool. Um, well if you’re free tonight after your shift is done, would 1800 work for you?” He followed up on the date’s timing.

Ensign Chavez, Sec

Katie’s pale complexion flushed a slight pink at her own actions, but she nodded firmly. “That sounds perfect. I’ll mark you down as passing your psych eval.” She giggled at her own joke and playfully stuck her tongue out at him before turning her back to return to her stack of paperwork.
