As he left the CO’s office moving directly to the lift as the doors opened for him to enter, as the doors closed behind him as he entered then he was alone again. “Sickbay!” He waited for the lift to leave as he let out a cheer loud enough for him to hear and not to disturb others as the car went from level to level. As the car made its way back to sickbay. Trax was now beaming a broad smile now. As the lift slowed to a stop and exited the car and moved directly to sickbay. As he passed the threshold The staff noted an air of change as the officer entered the room. He was smiling and the new rank was noticed by all. As they all came over and circle him and started congratulating him.

“Thank you it was a total surprise to me too!” he said to them all. “And I am the new CMO too.” All of them fell quiet for a moment before the cheered and congratulated him again. As the Nurse walked away and ordered a small cake and punch for all to enjoy. Traxs thanked all of them again. As he noticed the nurse getting things for an impromptu party. “Thank you Nurse Hulahan A perfect time to unwind and destress a bit. Computer some light party music please!” As the music started playing lightly through the speakers in sickbay.

Trax would deal with the office and moving to his new quarters later. He knew his roommate would enjoy some time alone before a new officer takes over his old bunk in their old quarters. As he watched the orderly’s Ensign Church and Ensign Hightower as they helped the nurse with the items and brought them to a table for all to enjoy. Ensign Church placed the punch bowl down full of fruit punch. As Hightower placed the cake down while Nurse Sake grabbed some fresh fruit to go along with the cake and punch. As Nurse Hulahan grabbed plates and forks to complete the party gathering. Nurse Johnson left and went to a replicator and got a small gift for the new CMO and friend. One by one they disappeared and returned with there little gifts and packages. As Nurse Hulahan sent out messages to all of interested in a gathering.While she got her gift and returned as Trax did not know what she has done.

“You know guys this was not necessary but thank you just the same for everything. Your friendship and companionship are special to me. I know I haven’t been here long but I never felt so welcome before.” Trax smiled. As Nurse Johnson started serving punch and handing them out. Trax waited for all to have drinks. “To the best staff in the fleet.” Trax toasted. “They all said. “Here here!” and took a sip. As others started to make small talk in smaller groups as Ensign Hightower started cutting the cake and placing them on plates then passing them out.

All Trax could do was smile at them all they were a great bunch of officers and there indeed special to him as he took a seat on a stool for a moment as he felt a bit overwhelmed by all this kindness and love. As he noticed a few odd officers coming in with there gifts and placing them on the table near the door. Trax started looking at his officers again. As he noted nurse Hulanhan Smiling broadly. “You should have Nurse Hulan But thanks!!” as he stood and walked away a moment into the office. to get his feeling in order. Before he had a chance to turn around. Nurse Hulahan arrived behind him as she placed her hand on his shoulder. “It’s only right that all of your friends and what family are here share in the promotion.” Trax gave her a huge hug. “Thank you! Margaret!” As he let go… ” Your welcome Trax I mean Doctor!” Noticing she slipped on proper protocol. “All is good Margaret! As he smiled again as he followed her back out of the office as he took a seat again where he was.

As the other officers came over to congratulate him as they got there fair share of cake and punch. “Nurse Hulahan? Please get more cake and punch and have the orderly’s help you please. Our party is going to get a lot bigger than expected.” As he said with a smile. Nurse Hulahan nodded quickly in acknowledgment as did the orderly as the restocked everything.
