Sadie Posted by… suppressed (12) by the Post Ghost! 👻 Delarosa managed a smile, taking a sip of her tea, as she sat back for a moment. Knowing that there were more people to evaluate, she pushed through and chose to continue. =^=Delarosa to Lt. Sadie, is there a chance you can spare a moment for an evaluation?=^= : : : : : : : : Delarosa : : : : CNS : : : : : : It was several minutes before the response came in to the counselor. =^=Sadie to Delarosa. I’m sure I can spare a moment, but I’m a little busy today. How does 1400 tomorrow afternoon sound?=^= : : : : : : Lt. Sadie : : : CSO : : : : =^=That sounds perfectly fine to me, Sadie. I will write you down for an appointment, tomorrow.=^= Roux took a moment to do exactly that, before responding, once more. =^=Alright. I will see you then, Lieutenant. Delarosa, out.=^= : : : : Delarosa : : CNS : : The next afternoon. : : The ‘click, click’ of Sadie’s feet preceded her along the corridor as she walked. She wore a comfortable-looking outfit. Her legs wore loosely-fitting leggings that were a deep brown tone, while her top was a simple coverlet - a loop around her neck holding a satiny light blue material that met under her arms and flowed down to tuck into her leggings. Two plain golden bands sat around her right wrist, and a small wrist computer was tied onto her left wrist, and that was all. : : She reached the Counselor’s office and rang the chime, having to stretch her arm up to hit it. Hmm, next time she would use the URI to ring anyone’s chime, she sighed to herself. : : Sadie herself was an intriguing sight to see. Her legs, although hard to see with the loose leggings, were not proportioned in the same way as a human’s, as instead of standing on her heels like a human, she stood on her toes. To that effect, her leg was structured much like that of a goat, including the hard, hoof-like toes - the source of the clicking when she walked. Her entire body was covered in soft, downy fur, in a gentle light brown colour. Floppy ears stuck out the top of her head, resting around her cheek-bones. Her hands had, not four fingers and a thumb, but three fingers and a thumb, and anyone behind her would see the little deer-like tail that she possessed. : : Her smile was charming and… a little nervous. : : Sadie : CSO “Come in!” Came the audible response from the generally soft spoken counselor. Once she entered the room, Sadie would find that it was currently barren of anything beyond the necissities required, or more so desired, for a comfortable meeting between the counselor and any of her patients. To the back, situated in the center of the room, a desk sat, placed in front of a panel and just left of the replicator. One chair laid behind the desk, currently occupied by a rather curious creature. Across from her position, another two chairs laid haphazardly towards the desk, awaiting the arrival of their users. To the right of the desk, a couch was pushed against the wall, placed just beyond a coffee table and another chair, which was quite easily assumed to be that of the officer’s. All in all, it had yet to be decorated, beyond a few synthetic plants and a single holographic image of two people. The Counselor, herself, was a diminutive being. Standing under five foot, she was notably small in comparison to other humans. Her skin was a pigmentless white, nearly resembling that of an Aenar, but she possessed no antennae upon her head. Her eyes were a pale grey, matching the melanin deficient colour of her bobbed hair. She was an albino, rare, but still quite alive. Delarosa CNSSadie stepped in, looking around and spotting the seat to sit in. She quickly got onto the couch. It looked comfortable. “I’m Sadie,” she said with a smile. “Um… It’s nice to meet you, I suppose,” she spoke to the counselor. “How do you want to do this…?”
Sadie
CSO“You as well, Miss Sadie.” Roux smiled, making her way over to the replicator. “Can I get you anything? Something to drink, perhaps?”
“Ah, yes. Just a glass of water would be lovely, thank you,” Sadie said with a smile.
“Of course, Lieutenant.” Delarosa complied, replicating the scientist a glass of water and herself; a mug of tea.
Once that was settled, she took a seat vertical from the smaller creature, crossing one of her legs over the other. “This is completely at your pace. How about we just start with a simple conversation?” She inquired, “How are you, today?”
Delarosa
CNS“I’m doing well enough, I suppose. Running a department is quite stressful at times. I didn’t expect to get a promotion so quickly when I started on the Ark Angel, but here I am… Chief Science Officer…” She chuckled.
Sadie
“With great aptitude and notable ethic, comes great responsibility and use of those abilities.” She remarked, setting the glass of water down in front of the officer. “How quickly were you promoted, from you admission into the crew of the Ark Angel?” She asked, a double entendre, in the means of what the question was looking for.
Delarosa
CNSSadie took a sip of the water before she quietly replied. “I’m not certain, but it wasn’t longer than a month… maybe two?” she smiled slightly. “My department head left so quickly after I arrived, and then suddenly I was somehow the best choice for Chief Science Officer, despite there being other officers here with much more experience than little old me…” she shrugged. She’d come to emotionally accept her position, but it was still a struggle physically and mentally to be in charge of so many.
Sadie
CSO“Experience doesn’t warrant ethic nor leadership ability. They may have had years on you, in the field. However, you were likely chosen in the favor of your capacity to lead or to handle the work that you had been given. A Captain wouldn’t promote you, if they didn’t think that you were ready for the challenge,” She smiled. “If you don’t mind me asking: are there any mental issues that you face with your placement as the Chief Science Officer? Any uncertainties or anxieties that you have had or have recently noticed?”
Delarosa
CNS“It’s really stressful,” Sadie admitted with a deep sigh. “Heh… I wasn’t really given any training on how to lead a department.. I was just kinda thrown into it. I’ve tried to find literature in the Ship’s database on how to organize work shifts and delegate tasks…” Her ears ducked back slightly, her eyes focusing on her drink. “At least I know what I’m doing well enough to explain things to new recruits when they do show up… It’s also really hard to assert my authority with some of my ensigns, owing to my… well…” she put down her water. “My diminutive stature and prey-like appearance. Arwan are not generally placed in positions of authority over meat-eaters,” she chuckled nervously.
Sadie
CSO“That is understandable,” There was no judgement within her eyes. She always made certain that her emotions shone within them, so that the patient didn’t have to deal with the anxiety that came with a hardfaced counselor, who appeared as if they could see into your soul. The only issue was, Roux said everything with her eyes. Even if she didn’t verbally say it, the thought always echoed within her pale gaze. “I cannot say for certain, but you seem to suffer from a type of social anxiety, or even what we call a generalized anxiety disorder. This is very common, and all it means is your mind finds it difficult to make sense of situations that come off as stressful or unknown. This triggers anxiety, worsening the state of stress and making it harder for you to do your job, without feeling uneasy or uncertain of everything you are doing. Does this sound anything like you?” She wanted to see where Sadie’s Head was at, so she could determine whether or not she needed help.
“Also, anxiety doesn’t have an impact on whether or not you are written off as fit for duty. The only reason I would not, is if you were planning to harm yourself or others, or were in a state of mass hysteria, including any form of degenerative state of mind. Do not ponder it, anxiety, in this general form, won’t affect your clearance.” She assured, as if attempting to make her feel comfortable, while she was also trying to avoid any potential lies.
Lt. Delarosa
CNSSadie listened to the counselor’s words, and found herself nodding along with them. “I didn’t have these kinds of troubles before… I thought it was just,” she struggled for a moment for the words she needed, “getting used to the new job, I guess?” she was quiet for a few moments. “Is there a way to get rid of the anxiety?” she asked. Her species having been descended from a prey species, what was known as anxiety among humans and human-like species was significantly more common among them. Arwan were generally a rather skittish people, preferring to stay off to the side and not call attention to themselves. The requirement as a department head to call attention to herself in order to command her science team wasn’t doing wonders for the alien’s psyche, but with help she would be able to overcome this trial.
Sadie
CSO“I cannot cure mental disorders, Sadie, but I can help you manage them and fee as if they have gone away.” She smiled, giving a faint nod of her head. Mental issues were not nearly as simple as medical ones, whereas medical problems could be solved with a touch of medicine or even a surgery, mental disorders and diseases were far more complex and difficult to come by a treatment for. Luckily, Sadie seemed to suffer by a rather common disorder, one which various different treatments had been conjured for the healing of a being suffering from it. “There are several different options, one of which, is medicine. However, if you don’t mind, I would like to hold off on medicine, until I’m completely sure of your mental state with anxiety.” She remarked, “Another is therapy, now therapeutic measures are not as scary a step people think. You, as the patient, choose the pace, what type of things you are comfortable with, and what you aren’t. You are in control, and I am merely a guide, even simply a sounding board, at times. So various different branches of therapy could be looked into. Or, if you have no desire for either, I could give you a list of coping skills and things you can do to help with or even lower anxiety.”
Lt (JG) Delarosa
CNSSadie was quiet as she listened to the counselor. “Erm… I’m willing to try therapy,” she said with a slight smile. “Although coping skills would be nice too,” she giggled lightly, biting her lip.
Sadie looked at the ground, quiet.
- Sadie
“We can easily do both, in single sessions.” Delarosa assured, smiling towards her, as if trying to assist in the calm of all of this. “How about we set up an initial appointment, and if you don’t like it, we can try something else?”
Delarosa
CNS.“That would be nice, thank you,” Sadie said with a small nod, smiling slightly. She looked over at the decor, examining it with her big brown eyes.
- Sadie
“All right. When are you next free?” The Counselor asked, pulling up the proper page. As for the decor, it remained fairly simple, as she hadn’t the time to actually decorate. For the time being, there were a few plants, each from Earth, likely synthetic, as such things wouldn’t be able to survive long, in space. As for everything else, it was the general layout of an untouched office, a couch and chair, a desk and surrounding seating, and a replicator. If anything, the most interesting notion, was the holographic image by her hand, which was of Roux, a labradoodle and a dark, African man. Everything else, was rather bland.

“Umm,” Sadie didn’t have a schedule on her, so she wasn’t sure. “I’m not entirely certain, but I think I can manage next Tuesday?” she suggested, looking at her drink. She looked back at the counselor. “Could I get back to you on that?” she suggested with a small smile.
