The transporter room of the USS ArkAngel was quiet and orderly, the soft hum of the transporter systems blending with the steady rhythm of the ship’s operations. The room stood ready for the next phase of the mission, its consoles displaying the secure coordinates for Listening Post 47 and the necessary information for the away team’s transport.

The transporter platform remained prepared, the shimmering lights of the pattern buffers reflecting across the room as the final transport calculations were verified. The destination coordinates had been confirmed, and the connection to the remote listening post was standing by.

At the transporter console, the assigned transporter officer monitored the system readings with practiced attention. The officer remained focused on the technical details of the transport, ensuring the signal lock remained stable and that the away team’s transition to the distant station would be conducted safely.

The transporter room carried the familiar sense of anticipation that accompanied every Starfleet mission. Beyond the doors of the ArkAngel, an unknown situation awaited at Listening Post 47, and the equipment around the room stood ready to bridge the distance between exploration and discovery.

Everything was prepared. The transporter system awaited the arrival of the away team.

Gibbs arrived at Transporter Room 1 with a few items he had used on Away Teams before on Starbase 47. A Standard and a Scientific tricorder each with a shoulder strap. A belt like pouch that his mother called a ‘fanny pack’. He had filled it with minor things like a rebreather, pocketknife, small sewing kit and other small tools.

When he arrived, he noticed the Exec. had arrived before him. He acknowledged his superior with a nod and a “Commander.”

Charlotte returned the nod ” Mr. Gibbs I do hope you’re ready for this.”

“Of course, Commander. This is not my first Away Team mission.” He answered with more confidence than he realized. “I am just curious as to what Outpost 47 has discovered about the anomaly. A temporal rift is a serious concern.”

“I am sure you are a veteran in leading Away Team’s. Any advice for a newcomer?”

Ensign Gibbs.

Commander Charlotte Kelley glanced toward Ensign Gibbs with a faint, reassuring smile as they continued toward the transporter room.

“It is a serious concern,” she agreed. “Temporal phenomena have a way of becoming far more complicated than the initial reports suggest, which is why we’re going to see the data firsthand instead of making assumptions from light-years away.”

She folded her hands behind her back as she walked. “As for advice…” A hint of amusement touched her expression. “Remember your training. Stay observant, trust your instruments, and don’t become so focused on one mystery that you miss everything happening around it. Away missions have a habit of changing without warning.”

After a moment, she looked back at him.

“And don’t be afraid to speak up if you notice something that doesn’t fit. Fresh eyes often catch details the rest of us overlook. Rank isn’t what solves problems in the field—good observations and sound judgment do. If you have either, I expect to hear them.”

Kelley offered an encouraging nod before returning her attention to the corridor ahead.

“Stay close to the team, follow protocol, and we’ll handle whatever Outpost 47 has found together.”
