Gibbs left the Counseling Suites on Deck 11 and moved down to Sickbay on Deck 12. As he entered the room he was taken back by the number of biobeds. He had only seen this many before aboard Starbase 47. But, with a ship the size of the Ark Angel, and the nature of her mission, it should not have surprised him.

Seeing a crewman in blue walking past he got their attention. “Excuse me. I just transferred aboard. Whom do I see for my medical check in?”

Repost.

The blue uniformed medtech walked by Gibbs as if he was not seen or was not heard. Gibbs looked around Sickbay which looked to be quiet in his opinion. He though back to his meeting with Counselor Cross. This would be a good opportunity to get himself noticed. To step out of the shadows so to speak.

Gibbs spoke slightly louder and with more emphasis, “I have just transferred from Starbase 47 where they are fighting a case of Rigelian fever. Can I have someone check me out to ensure I am not a carrier?”

Ensign Gibbs

Spenn had been deep in thought and hadn’t immediately noticed the ensign. “Apologies, Ensign,” He said, “Sit down on the biobed so we may begin your examination.”

Gibbs followed the Vulcan doctor to the indicated biobed and presented his transfer orders. “Walter Gibbs. As I stated, I recently transferred from Starbase 47. Sorry to have to raise my voice, but I didn’t think anyone saw me what I originally entered.”

“My medical information should be up to date as I have had a checkup recently.”

Ensign Gibbs.

“Still, it would be logical to still carry out this examination.” Spenn insisted, picking up a tricorder, “Have there been any incidents since your examination that could affect your performance on this vessal?”

He meant any. Last thing Spenn wanted was a bug bite causing a zombie-like plague affecting the ship.

Gibbs thought for a few moments running the events of the last few weeks for anything that might be an issue. “I took several civilian transports to meet the ship. It’s possible they did not have the most up to date infection controls.”

“Maybe a new exam would be warranted.” Gibbs replied.

“A scan would be more effective,” Spenn relied, holding up a tricorder that soon beeped. “Tell me, what is your specialty in the medical field?”

Gibbs cocked an eyebrow at the question. He was a Science Division officer. But Medical and Science share the same blue uniform color, so it is an easy error to make.

“I do not have a medical specialty. I am assigned to the Science division. My specialty is advanced astrometric planetary science.”

“What about yourself? What is your specialty?”

Ensign Gibbs

“I studied Surgery as well as Administration at the Academy.” Spenn said, “Now, tell me: is your vision perfect?”
