The shields would protect the ship enough even with the modifications, the problem was the radiation would still interfere, and if they got any closer the shield bubble and deflector dish would move the debris around, jostling them and in turn any fragile life or protected places, they could do it certainly but they ran the risk of killing any survivors within the wreckage in their passing. This same radiation also prevented a safe tractor beam lock to let them draw pieces out, their best and quickest chance to search for any survivors was to beam over as soon as possible, every moment could matter. Yes they could hold a briefing to discuss things but the life signs could also fade while they talked, the choice of course was the Captains.

The Counselor sat quietly listening to the discussion going on around the bridge and found himself becoming antsy inwardly. All this discussion when there were life signs to try and assist. “Captain, there were faint life signs that may not be there long.” He said quietly to the Captain with a slight frown of worry on his darkly handsome face.

He sat there pondering on what the counselor said. “I agree. I say we get suited up in EV suits. Possible two away teams.” He replied back.

“Captain” Riley started “ remember my multi layer system I made for the shuttle during the last mission. Maybe we can do the same here with multi layered shielding that can protect the vessel from radiation” he show a schematic of the shuttle system that he made, and it was easy to make the modifications to the ships systems

“Yes I do remember your multi layer system that you made for the last mission. We can use that but again we would need at least two shuttle craft for two away teams. I want to know what is going on down there. I would recommend that Number one, you lead one and Counselor, if you are up for it, I’d like you to lead the second one. Two shuttles for two landing parties. I’ll stay back here and oversee everything else. Unless if either of you guys have any objections.” He said to both the counselor and his number one.

“Captain, I would suggest that you send Chief Enginer Waryn or myself go with Counselor Cross,” Falz spoke up, from where he had been standing quietly almost un-noticed at his console. He’d been observing and quietly calculating “Given the conditions of the ships I think it would be a good idea to have someone with some Engineering experience in his team. I believe Commander O’Nell has engineering in his background so I will leave it to you to decide if you would like one of us to go with his team or stay onboard and maintain Engineering and Operations here.”

Riley looked at the Lt. “ I was the chief engineer before I got promoted Young Lieutenant. You are still very new to the vessel and you don’t know the crew strengths and weaknesses yet. I am going to pick my team the best way i see fit thank you for the suggestion though.

Sorel headed for the conference room as he wasn’t needed on the bridge , it would be likely he wouldn’t be on the away team if there was one but who knows

“That maybe true commander. But I am the one who assigns who to what team. Lt. Falz I also have engineering background as well. I’ll say Mr. Spenn, and Mr. Falz, along with Mr. Ezeami will go with the counselor. Now Mr. Vaarek, Mr. Sanks, and Mr. Waryn will go with Commander O’Nell. As for Lt. Nala. I’m going to need you here on the bridge as I will be here in the bridge as well at engineering console making sure our shields can keep protecting the rest of us from exposure.” He explained. “Commander,” he said but then going to whisper in his ear. “Do not cross that line again.” He whispered. “Alrighty everyone you all have assigned duties.” He added later on.

Ollie quirked his eyebrow at some of the back and forth and suppressed a chuckle at Lt. Falz being referred to as “young lieutenant”. He had enjoyed meeting the newer officer at the BBQ and looked forward to chatting with him later. He looked up as the captain went over the away team assignments.

“Yes, sir,” he nodded as he secured his station. He nodded to one of the relief security officers to come take the station from him as he prepared to leave the bridge.

Becket looked over at Riley and thought. “How long will a second shuttle crafts for the multi layer on the shuttle? How long will it be?” He asked.

Down in Main Engineering, one of the senior Crewman was explaining the multilayer shields to Lt Waryn. “…and we still have all the information from when the Chief Engineer.... I mean… the Executive Officer set it up. A few of us worked with him on the implementation… it shouldn’t take much time at all to recreate.”

Izak ignored the mixup… he himself was so new to his position that he still though of Commander O’Nell as Chief Engineer sometimes.

=/\=”Captain, my team can have the multi-layer shields in place by the time the shuttle preflight checks are done. It’s a much easier process using the XO’s previous work as a roadmap.”

Switching gears, Lt Waryn conducted a rapid fire turnover with the lead for Alpha shift, discussing priorities and a few contingency plans.

When that was done, he grabbed a tricorder and then headed to the hangar to get dressed out in an evac suit for the upcoming mission.

Izak knew speed was of the essence… the faint life signs the sensors picked up might not last for long.

Ollie hadn’t been the only one amused at Falz being referred to as ‘young’, the Lieutenant wasn’t even sure if he’d ever been called that as a child let alone as an adult. But feeling the time was not the time for humour only the corner of his mouth twitched in a suppressed good-natured smile. He was happy that the Captain putting him on a team with people he was familiar with, the only person he wasn’t sure he knew was the Chief Medical Officer, and this would be a good chance for him to get to know Lieutenant Commander Spenn.

“Aye sir,” Lieutenant Hegush acknowledged, if Captain Becket felt confident enough that he could manage both the ship and engineering he wasn’t going to argue it. It was as the First Officer had said, he was still getting familiar with the crew including the Captain. He would Captain had considered everything and ignore the skeptical part of his mind that was wondering if they weren’t going to be leaving the ship vulnerable to an attack. This wasn’t the Patriot, he reminded himself, he couldn’t let history skew his perception.

He nodded at his officers. “Very well.” He said to the ones standing around. =/\= Very well Lieutenant make the right preparations and make sure the second shuttle can do its job like the first. Myself and Lieutenant Nala and the rest of us including Lieutenant Commander Storm and some junior officers will be here monitoring everything from the ship. Get to it right away. =/\=. Becket had replied back to the Chief Engineer. Before allowing everyone to do the main portion he then added to everyone and to the Chief Engineer =/\=”For those that are on the team, I want to have sensor scans of anything and everything around and in the ships sent directly to Lieutenant Nala for her reading of the scan. “=/\= He added.
