It was the next morning after their impromptu R&R on Sall III’s colony BBQ. Rested from their revelry and partying, the crew were now back on board and back onto their normal shift rotations. With their original task complete, they now had a second task, assigned by he colony Governor, to investigate a nearby unclaimed system, where not long before the Ark Angel’s arrival the colony had detected some energy emissions which may have been weapons fire of some kind, but due to local ion storm interference they had no way to be sure, and given their limited local defense craft, waited until the Ark Angel came to request it be checked on now a few days later.GM CockRoach
Captain Becket came out of his ready room and stepped onto the bridge. He looked around and smiled before he would take his captains chair. As he sat down he looked over at his first officer and looked at him. “Commander systems check.” He said with a nod. Suddenly he smiled back at him as well.

Commanding Officer
U.S.S. Ark Angel
In a rare lull between scheduled appointments, Lieutenant Alex Cross stepped onto the bridge of the Ark Angel, the familiar hum of systems settling around him like a steady heartbeat. The energy was different this morning—focused, purposeful. Whatever they had enjoyed planetside was now neatly set aside, replaced by the quiet professionalism of a crew back on duty.
He paused just long enough to take in the space. The bridge lighting was set to standard operations, consoles alive with soft LCARS glow, officers already moving through their checks. At the center, Captain Becket had taken his chair—calm, composed, already guiding the rhythm of the room.
Cross moved with quiet confidence down the slight curve of the command well, offering a respectful nod to the Captain as he passed him. There was no need to interrupt—presence alone was enough.
Reaching the Counselor’s station to the Captain’s side, Cross eased into the CNS chair, settling in with practiced familiarity. His posture was relaxed but attentive, one arm resting lightly on the chair’s arm his eyes moved across the bridge—reading the room more than the displays. The subtle tension in shoulders, the cadence of voices, the unspoken anticipation of the unknown system ahead.
His gaze flicked briefly toward the viewscreen, then back to the crew.
Whatever they were about to find out there… he was ready to observe, to listen, and, if needed, to steady the minds behind the mission.
