Main sim - 1800 Hours Sal III Market - BBQ Shin Dig

[snip]

Riley woke up an hour ago and him self and some of the other Irish men of the Colony did a jig on stage, kinda like Lord of the step. And it got really crazy when O’Neill took a violin he used it as a Celtic fiddle.

“ A pint in my hand and a tale in my throat
The firelight dances
The stories we wrote
The chairs all creak
The shadows spin
In the heart of the pub
Where the nights begin

[Chorus]
Whiskey in the wind
Laughter in the air
Raise your glass high
Leave your troubles there
Sing it loud
Sing it proud
Let the rafters ring
Whiskey in the wind
It’s an Irish thing

[Verse 2]
The fiddler plays with a grin so sly
The bodhrán pounds like a battle cry
Feet on the floor
The crowd’s alive
The spirit of the isle
It will never die

[Prechorus]
Through the smoke
Through the song
We’ve been here all along

[Chorus]
Whiskey in the wind
Laughter in the air
Raise your glass high
Leave your troubles there
Sing it loud
Sing it proud
Let the rafters ring
Whiskey in the wind
It’s an Irish thing

[Bridge]
The clock strikes twelve
But who gives a care
Time’s a thief
But it’s welcome here
Pour another round
Let the fiddle play
We’ll dance with the dawn and the coming day”

Commander Riley O’Nell (XO)

Ollie turned his attention to the XO as he played. He was always surprised at the hidden talents that people had. A fiddle wasn’t exactly the type of instrument he got down with. Several of his friends back home played the ukulele but he had never learned himself. He sighed and took a few more bites of random food from his plate and then turned back to the Bajoran operation officer. His Betazoid senses had picked up the hint of melancholy and noticed the several drinks already consumed.

“Falz it is then. You can call me Ollie,” he gestured around to the party with a grin. “All of this reminds me of some good times back home. Makes me miss some friends… the things we would get up to.”

Becket continued to stand on the balcony and starts thinking about his previous lover but doesn’t affect him.

Falz gazed out, taking another sip, “Oh the dance of youth, where music of the desert bathed in sun and sands of gold played, and the oasis lay in promise until the last note of the lute is played and the mirage fades” He mused as another wave of melancholy passing through.

He took another sip and laughed, pushing those feelings away before the memories came “By the prophets we made our own kind of mischief, some more so than the others.” He winked, “But that was long ago and I’m sure it was nothing compared to the kind of mischief a Chief of Security would have gotten up to. I’m sure I’ve heard it said before the once that the ones who keep the peace are the ones who once broke it.”

Lt. Hegush COO

Close to the end of the day, there is an Irish drinking contest. O’Nell drunk them all under the table he went shot to shot with there best.

Commander Riley O’Nell (XO)

Wyatt watched them from a short distance, their laughter rising above the crash of voices and clinking bottles as the drinking contest dragged on. Someone cheered as another guy slammed his cup down, already swaying, and Wyatt just shook his head, a faint, amused smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. He couldn’t imagine keeping up with that pace—not that he wanted to. The whole thing looked exhausting more than anything else.

He was kind of glad he hadn’t joined in. Drinking had never really been his thing. A couple drinks, maybe—just enough to take the edge off—but anything beyond that and he was done for the night. He didn’t like the loss of control, the sluggish feeling that followed, the way the world seemed to tilt just slightly off balance. Watching them now only confirmed it.

With a quiet exhale, Wyatt dragged a hand back through his hair and turned away from the noise, pushing open the door and stepping outside. The shift was immediate. The air was cooler, softer, wrapping around him like a welcome break from the crowded heat inside. He leaned back against the building, shoulders settling as he let himself relax.

Out here, the sounds were different—muted, steadier. The distant rhythm of the ocean rolled in and out, waves folding into the shore in a slow, endless pattern. A warm breeze drifted past, carrying the faint scent of salt and something earthy, grounding him in a way the chaos inside never could.

Wyatt tipped his head back slightly, closing his eyes for a moment as he listened. The muffled music and shouting from inside faded into the background, replaced by the steady hush of the water and the whisper of wind. Out here, things felt simpler. Quieter. More like something he could actually hold onto.

He stayed there, leaning against the wall, letting the night stretch around him, content—

With the evening and bbq winding down, the Governor took to the stage once again, “Attention everyone! The hour grows late and the food has begun to cool, I can see while some of you are still lively others not so much. So with that Im going to call tonights festivities offically done, though if anyone wants to continue partying privately you’re welcome to do so, anyone who wants left overs head over to the food lines and start bagging, its first come first serve! Good night everyone!” he said

Another cheer of celebration went up everyone waving and others moving to the food line to get left overs.

Izak… exhausted from dancing… moved to the line to get leftovers. Not only was it a convenient excuse to take a break without offending anybody… but he wanted to ensure his department was taken care of.

He saw a couple Crewman from Engineering getting ready to leave, and requested they help him get some food for the people that were working onboard and couldn’t attend the bbq.

It was just a few moments waiting in line and another few minutes spent bagging up food. Before he knew it. Lt Waryn was contacting NE Nibbles to beam the three of them up.

Smiles greeted them when they arrived in Main Engineering, but he let the Crewman do most of the talking as food was distributed. The stories ranged from alcohol, to women, to the large BBQ stain on one of the crewman’s pants.

Meanwhile, the weight of responsibility seemed to settle on Izak’s shoulders again as he spoke to Ensign Boras, the Shift Leader. Nothing unexpected happened, but the conversation reminded the provisional Chief Engineer of the dozens of issues that needed his attention.

It had been a good day… a very much needed day to unwind and recharge.

As he walked down the corridor to his quarters. He admitted that he did feel a bit better. Izak was just worried that feeling would fade all too quickly as he resumed his duties.
