The USS Ark Angel emerged from warp with a controlled deceleration, its engines humming as the vast silhouette of Starbase 342 came into view. Positioned against the backdrop of a distant nebula, the station’s reinforced hull and illuminated docking arms marked it as a critical hub within the sector. On the bridge, officers turned their attention to the main viewscreen as long-range sensors confirmed the starbase’s identity and traffic status.

Starbase 342 stood as a testament to Starfleet engineering, its modular design sprawling outward like a metallic constellation. Multiple civilian transports and Starfleet vessels maneuvered in organized flight patterns around the station, guided by traffic control beacons. The Ark Angel adjusted its approach vector, aligning with the designated arrival corridor to ensure a smooth and compliant entry.

Communications crackled to life as Starbase 342’s operations center hailed the Ark Angel. Standard arrival protocols were exchanged, including crew manifest updates, mission logs, and security clearance confirmations. The calm, professional tone of the station controller reflected the routine nature of such arrivals, even as the station’s defense platforms tracked the incoming vessel.

As the distance closed, the Ark Angel reduced impulse power, allowing precision thrusters to take control. The ship’s hull lights reflected faintly off the station’s armored plating, revealing maintenance crews at work along external gantries. Inside the ship, departments prepared for docking procedures, with engineering standing by to secure power transfers and environmental controls.

On the bridge, Captain Alex Becket reviewed final approach data, noting the starbase’s current operational status and recent activity reports. Starbase 342 had seen an increase in traffic due to ongoing fleet movements and supply rotations. This information underscored the importance of the Ark Angel’s arrival and the role it would play during its scheduled stop.

The docking clamps engaged with a low, resonant thud, reverberating gently through the Ark Angel’s superstructure. Status indicators shifted from yellow to green as the station confirmed a secure connection. Power and data links synchronized seamlessly, signaling a successful physical and digital integration between ship and starbase systems.

With docking complete, the ship’s internal systems transitioned to station-compatible settings. Environmental readings stabilized, and permission was granted for crew movement between the Ark Angel and Starbase 342. Security teams coordinated with station personnel to establish controlled access points and ensure adherence to safety protocols.

Crew members gathered at observation ports and corridors, catching their first close-up view of Starbase 342’s interior sections through reinforced viewpanels. The steady flow of personnel and cargo underscored the station’s role as a logistical and strategic nerve center. For many aboard, this arrival marked a brief respite from extended deployment.

Senior officers prepared for scheduled briefings with starbase command, reviewing objectives tied to the Ark Angel’s presence. These included resupply operations, intelligence exchanges, and coordination with other vessels currently berthed at the station. The atmosphere aboard shifted from travel readiness to operational planning.

As the USS Ark Angel settled fully into its berth, the arrival at Starbase 342 was officially logged and confirmed. The station’s lights glowed steadily against the hull, a symbol of temporary harbor and renewed readiness. With docking procedures complete, the Ark Angel and its crew stood ready to undertake the next phase of their mission within the sector.

“Open hailing frequencies.” Captain Becket looked over Lieutenant Grey as he wasn’t sure about if Starbase 342 is going to respond or not.

Riley was confused there is nothing wrong with this base. The mission brief sounded like it was some trouble with the base put civilian, and Federation vessels were flying around it as if nothing bad is happening but the question remains why were we here for a mission that didn’t exist

Lt. Riley O’Nell (CE)

Ollie also looked at his tactical readings with confusion. Everything seemed normal on the surface. Nothing seemed to point to anything out of the ordinary or nefarious.

Hearing the CO’s command he tapped a few buttons on the console, “Aye sir, hailing frequencies open.”

The transmission cut through the silence of deep space as the USS Ark Angel emerged from warp, her hull gleaming against the distant starlight. Sensors immediately began sweeping the area, confirming the unmistakable silhouette of Starbase 342 ahead. After weeks of travel through contested sectors, the familiar presence of the station brought a sense of order and anticipation to the bridge crew.

From the command chair, the captain studied the main viewscreen as the station slowly grew larger. Starbase 342’s outer ring rotated steadily, dotted with docking bays and navigation beacons flashing in precise sequence. The Ark Angel adjusted her trajectory, thrusters firing in short, controlled bursts as the ship aligned for approach.

“Starbase 342, this is the Ark Angel,” the captain repeated, voice calm and authoritative. “Requesting permission to enter your space and proceed with standard docking protocols.” The bridge fell quiet, every officer focused on their stations as they awaited a response.

Within moments, the communication channel crackled softly, signaling an incoming reply. The Ark Angel held position, her systems humming in readiness, as the final approach loomed. Whatever awaited them aboard Starbase 342—resupply, orders, or unforeseen complications—the crew stood prepared to face it together.

Yoshida stood behind the helm and tactical stations, his face hard and unreadable. He was thinking about how odd it was that the station looked so operational, having called from the midst of an attack. Was this some kind of trick? Yoshida knew something didn’t feel right. “Sir,” he said turning to Captain Becket, “I suggest we take the ship to yellow alert and ready ourselves to raise shields. I have a bad sense of this place.” Yoshida knew they had three Betazoids on the ship, the Captain being one of them. He wondered if they could also, more accurately, sense something about the place.

Lt. Commander Yoshida
Executive Officer

He heard the suggestion. “I agree. Yellow Alert.” He replied as he looked at his XO. “Bring those shields up and make sure we don’t get messed up around here.” He added.

Riley looked at the captain “sir I also recommended a full stop we don’t know what where heading into and look at the base there’s no damage we can see at all, but yet no communication coming from the base. There could be some sort of damping field around the base and I doubt we wanna get trapped in it.” He said checking the system reading from the engineering console “something doesn’t feel right”

Lt. Riley O’Nell (CE)

He nodded at Lt. O’Nell. “Very well helm all stop. Science what do we expect over there?” He asked the science Chief. “Lieutenant,” as he looked back at O’Nell. “If there is a dampening field we should be cautious.” He said as he added. “Number One. Take an away team and go in by shuttle. We don’t know what might be going on over there.” He swung and told Lieutenant Commander Yoshida.

“Hai, Captain!” Yoshida said as he began to gather the preapproved team. “Ezeami, O’Nell, Grey, meet me down in the shuttle bay. Bring Ensigns Battarrio and T’Varan. I will retrieve Lt. Spenn from sickbay and meet you all there.” He gave an acknowledging nod to Captain Becket and headed to the turbo lift.

James had already begun an active scan “Running a full scan of the Station and the surrounding space, I’ll have data to give shortly.”

CSO

“Thank you Lieutenant.” Becket said. As much as Becket knows it, there could be something out there and it isn’t a good feeling.

Things had seemed rather quiet, so Cross made his way up to the bridge to see if he could get an update on the mission situation. He, of course, had been sent a mission outline so that he could be up to date in case his skills were needed. But nothing since. As the turbo lift doors opened, he could see the Starbase on the viewscreen with Starfleet ships moving back and forth. The crew, though working on their consoles, seemed to be waiting.
“Captain, permission to come onto the bridge?” Cross asked as he waited for the Captain to respond.

Dr. Cross

Captain Becket looked. “Granted counselor. What may I do you for today?” Becket asked.

Ollie nodded to one of the backup security officers on the bridge and handed over tactical to them before following the XO to the turbolift.

“Sir, I will make a quick stop by security and meet you in the shuttlebay.”

LTJG Ezeami - COS

Cross stepped out of the way of the turbo lift doors as he waited until Ezeami was done speaking. “I came up to be on hand in case you need my services, sir.”

OOC: There usually is a seat for the Counselor beside the Captain:)

“Thank you counselor. That is most appreciated.” He replied back as he smiled.

OOC: for sure.

After the ship had come to a stop, Sean began running checks on the navigation controls. He confirmed the shuttles were all cleared and ready for launch so that the away team was aware. Storm was undoubtedly on top of the shuttles anyways, but Sean confirmed they were all in normal operating status. Nothing broken down or in long-term maintenance, as was protocol.

“Sir,” the helmsman called out. “Ark Angel holding firm, ready for shuttle launch.” He tapped a few more buttons on the console to ensure all his updates were published to the other stations.

Cross quietly made his way down to the Command well and the CNS chair on the opposite side from the XO beside the Captain. He nodded and smiled at the Captain before he took his seat. To watch and wait.

Counselor Alex Cross

Yoshida’s voice came back through the comms =/\=Shuttle to Bridge. Ready for launch.=/\=_

(OOC: Everyone, don’t forget to post your comms in both the original thread and the thread you are communicating to.))

Lt. Commander Yoshida

Moore relayed the information to the captain. “All systems nominal on the shuttle, and they’ve engaged their warp core shielding as well.” This was standard practice for shuttles going into unknown or dangerous situations. Sean would continue to monitor their progress as well as ensuring scans and signals were going regularly.
