Quarters

Posted by Lieutenant Mykl Najjar (CNS) in Quarters
Mykl matched the long strides of her travelling companion as they made their way onto the ship of her new assignment. Stopping along the walkway of the boarding ramp, she reached out for his arm and squeezed it with excitement. “Oh, Pik, I am so excited for this posting.” He looked at her with a cheeky smile. “Yes…yes…I admit I need a vacation from my vacation. Maybe coming home for a month wasn’t a good idea…?”

He deigned not to agree or disagree with her. Her parents loved her a great deal, it was just their ideas didn’t always fit Mykl’s life within Star Fleet. He knew his ‘charge’ was trying to straddle two very different lifestyles, one as a Star Fleet officer, and the other as Princess Najjar, Fifth in Line to the throne of Egypt. (OOC: Yes, let’s suspend disbelief and just pretend with me :))

”…you off at our quar…Hey!” Mykl elbowed him lightly. “Did you hear me, because you looked lost in thought.”

Pik made a shrugging gesture. “I was saying that I’ll drop you off at our quarters and then go see the Captain and get my evals out of the way. Sound good?” The handsome, bearded man nodded and moved his hands in the sign language only the two of them knew, %That’s fine. I will start putting our quarters together. Is there anything in particular you would like for dinner?%

“Oh, don’t worry about dinner. You eat when you’re ready and I’ll get something when I have time.” Pic nodded just as they came upon the quarters they’d been assigned. It was sized for a family because there were two of them–a waiver was in her records to make sure she was not assigned a ‘single’ unit.

Walking up next the door, Mykl’s biorhythm opened then and they got their first look. The place was filled with dozens of things her father had sent; things she didn’t want and would never use. She and Pik looked at each other and shook their heads. %Don’t worry, I’ve got this.%

“Okay, I’ll see you later.” With that, she headed off to find the Captain.

It was several hours later that Tello finally returned, looking a little worse for the wear. %You look tired. Are you alright?% Pic signed quickly, always ready to step in and take care should she feel less than able.

Tello sat down on the sofa and pulled her feet up under her body, releasing a big sigh with a yawn. “I’m fine, really. Could you…?” feeling the brush of fingers against the back of her hand, she opened her eyes to see a chilled glass of red wine being held out to her. “Look at you—reading my mind like that.” They both laughed. It was uncanny how often Pic knew exactly what she needed and when.

He retrieved his drink and sat on the other end of the couch. %I want to hear about everything if you’re up to it, but first…% He looked pointedly from her eyes to her where her feet hid beneath her. %Get those boots off the sofa.% Tello jumped up so fast, she almost spilled her wine. “Oh, wow, I’m sorry, Pic, I didn’t even think.” A moment later, sans footgear, she curled up once more and began to fill her companion in on the life of a counselor aboard the Memorial.
