Reed looked at the time, 9:15 , good he was early. He stood outside the Chiefs office looking over his uniform to ensure everything was clean and orderly one last time. His hand met the buzzer. Bweedupe the bell rang throught the office.Ensign Thomas Reed
Ships SecurityLieutenant Anders opened the door a few seconds later, a phaser holstered in his right pocket, with a tricorder in his left. He looked as though he’d been awake for a couple of hours, though he was still very chipper.
“Mornin lad, ready to get started?”
-Lieutenant Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-
Luna approached the new security officer and the Chief with a slightly sheepish smile. “Apologies, Chief. It was a rough start to the morning,” she said, her tone tinged with exasperation. “Someone didn’t want to go to school because, apparently, it’s boring.”
She made her way to her locker, opening it to retrieve her phaser and the last of her gear for the shift. These days, Luna had started storing her work-related items in the security office rather than at home. Her daughter, Serenity, had developed a knack for dismantling anything mechanical she could get her hands on, and Luna wasn’t about to let her prized equipment become a casualty of Serenity’s curious mind.
Ensign LunaAnders grinned, “That old chestnut is bringing back far more memories than I’d like to admit Ensign, have you met Mr. Reed yet Luna?”
-Lieutenant Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-
Luna blinked, tilting her head slightly to the side. Her ice-blue eyes, sharp and penetrating, had a birdlike quality as they studied the newcomer. Her gaze was not unkind, but it was measured, as though she were carefully cataloging every detail of his presence.
“I think he was checking in while I was heading out on patrol one morning,” she said, her voice calm but edged with a thoughtful tone. As she spoke, she rolled her shoulders, her white-and-black-speckled wings shifting slightly. The motion caused them to unfurl just enough to reveal their impressive span before she tucked them back in, a gesture that felt both habitual and guarded.
“It’s nice to meet you, Mr. Reed,” Luna continued, offering a polite smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. “If there’s anything you need help with, my door is always open.”
Her words were warm enough, but her eyes betrayed a quiet wariness, a lingering shadow of distrust born from hard-earned experience. Luna had learned long ago to be cautious, and that lesson had etched itself deeply into her. Trust wasn’t something she gave freely, nor would she ever again. Yet, despite her hesitance, she radiated an air of professionalism and composure, a sentinel in both demeanor and spirit.
