As the lift slowed to a halt emerging onto the large bridge of the vessel, Drudoc stepped out, with the NLtjg at one of the rear auxiliary consoles calling out, “..Commodore on the bridge!” she said, while not jumping to attention, the crew there gave their attention in her direction, including the NLt filling the center chair rising to address her, “..Ma’am! All quiet up here, nothing to report..” he said.

Nodding, Drudoc gave an idle gesture of her hand for the NLt to remain in charge of the bridge while in dock, “..As you all were, just showing our new XO about.” She said, entering the Ready Room, Drudoc gestured for him to enter. “..Take a seat if you prefer, Commander. Need a drink or anything?” she asked as the door shut and she went around to behind the work desk, “..Forgive the sparseness at the moment, I’m in the middle of redecorating things since our last mission.” She said indicating the various packed up boxes nearby to the side room, and that there was only the work desk, two guest chairs, and a small empty side stand present.

Taking her seat, she picked up their conversation from before the lift opened. “..I have been the Commanding officer of the Mythology class Ark Angel for about 12 years, prior to that the name was carried by a Mjolnir class dreadnought carrier. Prior to that I was the Commanding officer for 3 years of the Maverick Mark I class dreadnought USS Rogue and where I served as a junior engineer and its chief engineer before assuming command. Back then I served as part of the Federation-Romulan officer exchange program before political events and even later the Hobus incident ruined the program. So you know I hold a commission of Commodore in Starfleet and a Sub-Admiral in the Romulan Star Empire and since the formation of the Romulan Free States their navy as well..” she said. After a pause she continued, “..Like yourself as I mentioned I served as an engineering officer during the Dominion War for the Star Empire, particularly aboard the RSE Re’tchek an older early 24th century scout warbird from the S-11 class heavy scout vessels. Then post-war participating in the Exchange program as I said. Eventually due to this, and due to.....internal family matters making my eventual return to the Empire just prior to Hobus threatening I was able to petition and gain admittance formally as a Federation Citizen and gain a equal rank in Starfleet. I briefly aided in rescue and resettlement efforts after Hobus hit the the home worlds and used my influence to keep several.....dangerous elements in the Empire from making matters worse. Since then and assuming command of the Ark Angel in both its forms, this is now my home with my daughter Tel’eck.” She said.

Taking a sip from a chilled water glass she then spoke setting it down, “..What of your own service so far? While I am content in my duty as an officer, I do still miss working in engineering related matters at times..” she asked.

Ciaran looked at the commodore and said, “I will take a glass of water, temperature of 3 edgrees, please.” He then sate down as the commodore has motioned. Ciaran was not expecting a huge explanation the commodore’s service but he got it anyways. He was just trying to make conversation while on the turbolift and though asking about how long she had been on the ship would have been more simple. He did not expect a full explanation of the commodores background but he got it. He had to gather his thoughts for a few minutes before responding to the commodore, “I could only image how hard it is to previously been a member of the Romulan Star Empire and now being part of Star-fleet. The technology has to be significantly different so understanding both of them could only be hard. I have only been on two ships previously. Freshly out of the academy, I was assigned as a engineering officer on the USS Glenn. I spent 8 years as a junior officer, reaching rank of lieutenant before being promoted to the position of Chief Engineer when the previous chief retired. I was then the chief for the next 6 years. I started the command staff training at 36, which would have been 4 years ago. I had a brief stint on the USS Memorial before getting assigned to the Ark Angel. So this leads us up to where we are now. I am not 100% sure why I was re-assigned after being the executive officer of the Memorial for such a short time but I hope to perform the duties of the executive officer to the best of my duties and be able to help keep the moral and everything else on the ship running as smooth as possible.” Ciaran did not want to sound annoying but wanted to tell the truth. So he waited for a response from the Commodore.

Drudoc returned with the water setting it down, “The Memorial? One of my former XOs was given command of it a few years ago, I admit I have not kept up quite as well as I would have preferred on her career and the ship’s status. Given my own tasks and missions.”

Sipping her own glass of water then she returned to her seat, “..I still am an officer of the Free States Navy. As well as one of the representatives for it when needed. I keep in regular contact and send transport aide where I can. As for understanding the technology. In truth on a general level both the Star Empires and Federations technology were mostly on par with each other after the Dominion War. Mostly it was adjusting to the variations in input format of our computer interfaces, and that Federation computer systems have more automany then Romulan systems, not to mention a sort of personality. But then that was why I spent 6 months on Vulcan when I entered the Exchange program, not only to avoid any security issues, but also get training on the differences.” she said.

After a pause she continued, “..As for your assignment here, you should know my command style is professional overall, and I expect everyone who is a Starfleet officer to perform their duties to the best of their ability. I do not nor would expect perfection, but professional decorum of uniform I do expect. I also expect punctual arrival to meetings or shifts. I understand some lateness may occur and long as it is only rarely done such is fine beyond each occurrence having a verbal discussion done. I will entrust such more mundane matters of discipline to your care to handle. While I do not expect you to follow the same outline I have used in the pass, I generally have used a three strikes policy for minor infractions like this, but you may adjust or use your own way of such structure if you so wish.” She said.

Continuing again after another pause, “..As you may know the Ark Angel contains several civilian crew, and families, and children. I would encourage you to meet with them informally when you can, I have found the children are less likely to act up if they meet you one on one to see you are not ‘scary’. In addition all of the civilians and care takers for the children are well trained to report to civilian shelters at the chime of yellow alert, the ship’s schools and nurseries are also equally equipped as safe areas. If you are not familiar with this I would suggest you read up on it, and any questions of them let me know. In either case if any disciplinary or security breaches with them occur you, myself and one of our ship’s counseling staff will be involved. Any questions so far?” she asked.

Ciaran was absorbing as much information as he was able to. Drudoc had a ton of experience and information to provide. He then responded to the commodore, “I do not have any questions as of yet. I am taking some notes, which I am assuming you do not mind. I was unaware of all the civilian crew on the Ark Angel so this will be a little different for me but I will work through it. I am looking forward to getting to know as many people as I can to be the best executive officer I can.” Ciaran then continued to listen and take notes based on what the commodore was stating. He did not want to miss anything or forget anything. He believed it was important to be on the same page as the commanding officer, especially now Ciaran was the executive officer.
