Drudoc on the nearby stage called out, “..Anyone else for the children to judge and learn from?” she asked. “..Not much of a competition if only Mr Gavin is up here?” she asked.

T’Mor gave Ensign Buckingham a look. It was hard to tell what it was implying but definitely a look. She didn’t want to be the one to have to go up there. At the same time, she seemed to be the only one to choose something different. It would definitely make this contest more educational for the children.

She slowly approached the edge of the stage,

“I… I could offer a brief presentation for the children.”

Drudoc smiled politely, then so did the two teachers, the children looked on with full attention. “..Go ahead then Lieutenant..” the one teacher said.

Her skirt’s beads clacked and jingled as she stepped up on stage. She held her hands together in front of her, covering her shirt but also displaying her arm-length jewelry more prominently.

“So, before the Time of Awakening,” she started, clearing her throat before continuing, “In the decades right before the civil wars and the use of nuclear weapons on Vulcan, there was a time period of excess, opulence, and materialism. Many people attempted to gain wealth through participating in illegal activities. My dress is known for being worn by females involved in illegal gambling and distribution of illicit substances. They were also known to preform music and dances as entertainment for their clientele.”

Gavin listened to T’Mor speak, and was amazed at how both ancient Earth and Vulcan were similar in many ways. However, he wondered about how much strength it took the Vulcans to suppress their emotions after that period. Everyone knew Humans acted upon their emotions, but Gavin couldn’t help to think if they’d be more like the Vulcans if they didn’t.

Several of the youngest children leaned forward closer coming within a foot or two of T’Mor to peer more closely at the jewelry as it sparkled a bit in the large rooms light. “..Ohhhh pretty!” came a few comments by the children. One girl of 4 years of age a human pointed to one of them, “..This one is like my Mommy’s band on her hand!” she said, another boy looking at something else commented, “..This one is reminds me of my grandmom! She had this sparkly white rock on her dresser that lit up when the Sun hit it every morning.” He looked up at T’Mor, “..does yours do that?” he asked, the rest of the children innocently looking up eagerly to hear her answer.

T’Mor looked down at the jewelry for a moment, seriously considering the child’s inquiry.

“Perhaps it would, I have never thought to observe it in such conditions.”

Cerenity simply smiled.” I think its pritty” The little girl said. Luna watched quietly here gaze drifting back to the new XO from time to time.

“This style of dress was designed with a focus on being atheistically pleasing, yes,” T’Mor said, responding to the crowd in general rather than one specific comment. Whatever embarrassment might have been bubbling up went away as she focused on the goal of educating the children,

“The original designer was aware of the … ‘sparkly’ quality of the materials used. Notice the way the skirt too also refracts light, emphasizing the wearers motion with both audio and visual interest.”

She demonstrated this with a small twirl, which picked up the beaded skirt slightly from the ground, causing small specks of light to be tossed across the platform. When coming to a stop, the beads clacked against each other, like raindrops on a roof. Of course the demonstration was done with the dignity and grace befitting a historical recreation. Not one bit of levity or enjoyment was found in T’Mor’s expression.
