With a few more minutes passing at a signal from Drudoc three of the teachers for the younger preschool to 4th grade students were soon sheparding the 29 or so kids of various ages to the front near the podium and small raised stage Drudoc was near. “..If I can have everyone’s attention please? Before we begin the award and notations from our last mission, as is our custom aboard the Ark Angel after every mission I would like those participating in this parties theme for educating the students before me to come forward. I would like each person to give a general overview of the clothing the wear, what era and culture it came from and what impact it had on the society or time period in question for better or worse. The children or teachers may then ask a question or two for later testing in their class, and then the children will collectively vote on who they liked they best..” she said gesturing then to a sheet covered small stand nearby. “..The winner then will receive something made by the 4th grade class this time..”

She then turned awaiting those present to come up to begin then their presentation once ready.

Cerenity quickly flitted to spot where her class was.

Gavin thought he had better get this over with and was the first to approach the stage, after nearly knocking over an Orion who had the same idea. “Mid-17th century pirate from Earth,” The CMO said after getting on stage. The doc turned in a circle for all to see, then returned to face the audience. “While not all pirates wore this attire, this stereotype was given to those that made their living stealing from ships and coastal towns along the North American coast and Caribbean Islands,” Gavin stated, then pointed to his fake parrot. “Parrots may have been held captive by a pirate, most were seen as valuable and sold at market,” He added, “The form of pirate that I’m portraying gradually ended during the early 1700s, though piracy continued on the seas for another 300 odd years”. Gavin then waited to see if the class had any questions.

“But why would you hold a bird captive that’s messed up” Cerenity said shaking her head.

Some of the other children present nodded, to Cerenity’s words. “..Yeah, I thought laws on Earth against animal enslavement and cruelty weren’t allowed?” One other human child asked the CMO.

“That’s true now,” Dr. Stacey announced, “Although, widespread laws against animal, or human, enslavement weren’t created until at least the mid to late 1800s, though even then it took another two to three hundred years to get a foundation of what we know today”.

Another chimed in, “..What kind of money did they use?” she asked.

“Every country in this era used their own form of currency such as the US dollar for the United States, or the pound in England,” Gavin stated, “However, gold, copper, and silver coins were also used widely during this time period”.

Luna kept her distance and watched.

Ciaran arrived at 17/18 Forward after speaking with the commodore. He walked in and looked around. He was very curious of what might be going on and looked for who he believed Lt T’Mor was and walked over to T’Mor and said, “I assume you are Lt T’Mor based on your service records, I am Lt Cmdr Donoghuei, the new XO for the Ark Angle. What might be going on here? I believe it would be related to your previous mission. I have read some about that mission and what was accomplished with the nanites. I would love a more in-depth explanation at some point. I know you were directly involved with the previous chief engineer so I am hoping you have more data than what was in the report which I was able to review.” He then waited for T’Mor to response, as well as putting his hand out for a hand shake.

T’Mor took the handshake, still trying to process everything the Commander had said and asked all at once.

“Yes,” she started, “Yes I am Lieutenant T’Mor. And the mission… I was present and made some additional notes in the science logs. Of course I will see you receive them.”

She looked down at her outfit, particularly the loud beaded skirt and short top. Growing a little embarrassed that this is how she was to meet the new Executive Officer,

“This is part of an - exhibition, you could say - for the children on board. It is supposed to be an educational experience about history and culture.”

Buckingham shuffled backward in the room hoping to remain slightly un-detected. He hadn’t anticipated a small amount of public speaking and he certainly didn’t feel like availing himself of it at this moment.
