Tom walked into the sickbay, eager to complete his physical as quickly as possible. He was in top physical condition and worked daily to maintain it, though he understood the necessity of the check. He looked around the room, trying to figure out whom he should talk to. He smirked as he thought to himself about how many times he would find himself here in the future.

“Excuse me?” he asked the closest person he could find. “Is there a doctor available? I just arrived and need to get my physical,” he asked.

Gavin sat his PaDD down at the counter and spun around to face the newcomer. Part of him had wanted to pretend to be a med tech or respiratory therapist, but his labcoat would have given him away.

“I’m Doctor Stacey, Chief Medical Officer,” He said gesturing to the nearest empty biobed. As they walked the 5 feet to the bed, the CMO unholstered his tricorder in preparation. “You must be new, Ensign, I don’t think I recognize you”.

Tom smiled warmly he was not one for small talk, but he would engage none the less he wanted to leave a good first impression since he would be in a lot.
“I’m Thomas Reed” He responded. “It’s my first day Sir, I’m admittedly a little overwhelmed” he finally responded as he jumped up on the bed. His feet dangled back and forth dispersing his nervous energy while the doctor scanned and looked over him.

“I wouldn’t worry too much, Mr Reed,” Gavin replied. The CMO started recording the data on his tricorder, which would automatically update the Ensign’s file as they went. “Just arrived from the academy, or are you a transfer?” Doctor Stacey asked, trying to avoid the silence between scans.

Tom gave a warn smile, “This is my first assignment Sir.” He noted as he shifted slightly on the table.

Doctors had always made him uncomfortable, one bad finding and his career could be done. He tried not to think about it and asked a question of his own. “How long have you been on the ship?”

“A little over a year, though I’ve been out of the academy for the same amount of time,” Doctor Stacey replied. The CMO started scanning Reed’s midsection since the upper region came back clear. “The Ark Angel seems to live up to its reputation too!” Gavin added. The doctor quickly completed the rest of the scans and paused a moment to ensure they were, in fact, uploaded into the man’s medical file.

“Have you checked in with Lieutenant Anders yet?” Gavin asked before closing his tricorder, “I know you security types are prim and proper when it comes to protocols, and you’re cleared medically to at least meet your team.”

Tom stood up and smiled. “I have sir it was my first stop.” he paused looked around again taking in the moment. “Thank you for your time Sir, well I should go get my psyc taken care of. ” he finished and worked his way out of the room.
