Scans for anyone on sensors for pheremones picked up a few trees nearby with aged droppings and such, the most recent being about 6 or so hours ago either just before or just after the attack. Some biological droppings also were picked up around that same time frame near the same point just about 10 feet or so to their left, the interesting bit though was some of the droppings showed signs of decayed inactive nano-technology present. Though again nothing that stood out as being of known nature, Borg or otherwise.

“I am picking up traces of the wolves’ pheromones.” T’Mor finally responded to Raith’s question. She took particular note of the signs of the decaying nano-technology.

“That’s curious,” she noted out loud. Following the scan she stepped closer until the correct collection of droppings was identified,

“I’m picking up traces of nano-technology, inactive, in the wolves’ feces. I would recommend collecting a sample for further analysis.”

“I agree,” Raith said, “which the wolves didn’t look like borg, and it would be strange for borg to assimilate such life forms, but any clue on their technology will be helpful.”

T’Mor waved over NE Boyle, the other science officer that had volunteered to carry the majority of the equipment. They both put on the proper PPE for handling such samples. He handed over the proper containers and tools as T’Mor worked, a labeled them as she handed the back. To be thorough as possible she took many and multiple types of samples and swabs. Ultimately uncertain as to where further analysis would lead them, she wanted to be prepared with material on hand.

As both T’Mor and Raith could confirm, the nano-tech here was not of Borg make. So they could probably relax on that train of thought. With their nano samples and such collected they could continue up the path to where the cave mouth was at.

Once they had done so the trek took another 5 or so minutes on foot. The wildlife around was at normal levels, though they still saw no other recent signs of the wolves. Approaching the cave mouth where the tracks led they could smell the scent of decay and faint wet fur on their noses and taste buds. The cave mouth was about 13 or so feet high and about 11 or so feet wide. Scans showed it opened up into a 8 or so foot wide opening which narrowed into a natural cave formation leading underground a further 50 or so feet down and ahead. No further scans of wolves was picked up but that did not mean they were not present somewhere given how their enhancements worked. Thankfully in addition to their own lights they had the cave ahead was lit up by a silver-blue natural looking moss that seemed to feed and glow due to exposure to wet sources. This moss ran along the ceiling, floor and walls in various patches.
