USS Ark Angel

Main Sim - Colony - Injured Livestock (Tag Ensign M’Lene)

[snip]

Buckingham knew when he enlisted in Starfleet that his service would take him on some strange and colourful adventures, but as he cautiously approached the area that the Livestock was kept - Tricorder in hand - he certainly had never envisioned himself performing house calls for some Bulls.

At least this strange experience was one he would be partaking in alone. Thomas smiled to himself briefly as he thought about how these sorts of away details usually make for the best stories a few years down the line.

M’Lene chuckled as she trotted behind Buckingham. “Just another day in the fleet?” She asked with a grin. It wasn’t exactly what she had expected to be doing on her first away mission but at least it was something different. “What’s our plan of action then doc?” She asked curiously.

“This is like no other day I’ve experienced… or anticipated” Buckingham laughed. “Have you any experience with Livestock, Ensign M’Lene?” He asked as they walked along. Reaching the location of the Livestock Buckingham stopped and visually surveyed the scene. Thomas had never had anything much to do with Farming. This was all very unfamiliar to him. In fact, he struggle to recall the last time, if ever, he had set foot on a farm. He removed his Medical Tricorder from it’s holster on his hip and opened it. “I suggest a cautious approach. I’ve never been charged at by a Bull and I’d like it to stay that way” Buckingham said, trying to sound as jocular as possible. “I’ll do a Scan with the Tricorder from a distance and see what I can learn. Perhaps you could find the owners of this Cattle and see what they have to say? Then we’ll decide what the course of action should be.” Buckingham began his scan as he waited to see if Ensign M’lene agreed with his plan.

Just before the group could get into the pen, a loud ‘ahem’ and clearing of throat was heard behind them, turning they found a well muscled and sun tanned older woman in her late 50s, “..You folks must be the ship crew coming down to help us out, yeah?” She asked.

Once introductions were out of the way she nodded, “..I see, name is Hannes O’neil. Cousin for my uncle Harnish. You folks ever deal with bulls before?” She said thumbing to the wide pen where three large 12ft high and such bulls milled about slowly, “..Especially ones not used to strangers, and which are not up to their usual selves being sick? Take it from me, you folks don’t want to go just waltzing in there less you factor on getting your hind quarters skewered with a horn or two..” she said. Gesturing then to the tricorders, “..Guess that there is one of those scanner things right? You gonna need to do any poking or prodding on them for samples?” she inquired.
