So there are times we are out of regular contact with the Federation and our families or friends. We try to relay using deep space comm buoys where we can but there is still often a delay of a few days or more sometimes. So be prepared to handle that as we go forward. This is especially true given your role in the security department, not only are you responsible for the safety of the Starfleet crew but as you’ve no doubt seen we also have many civilian crew aboard including children and teenagers. While most are well behaved there are still issues that crop up that you may have to be called in to resolve. I expect you’ll perform your duties with the utmost responsibility and professionalism in such cases. That said during yellow and red alerts these same crew are trained to report to our designated civilian shelters for their protection so during such alerts focus on your main duties in security where you are assigned..” she explained.

Pausing again to sip her drink, she set it down and once more looked to Jordy. “..I know that is a lot to take in Ensign, so let me ask do you have any questions or concerns for me so far?” She asked.
