Cochrane shook his head and laughed. “Nope. Tried a couple of times. It didn’t work out so well. Something about me ‘loving your job more than’… insert woman’s name, take your pick… ‘than you love me’. Meh, they were probably right.” and he took a drink. “So to completely change the subject. Why did you decide to come to a Federation ship? I know why I chose to serve on Klingon ships. But I imagine my reasoning doesn’t work both ways.”

“Your females are all the same, all too soft and squishy.” Kalitta took a peanut of the table and crushed in her hand for dramatization. “Klingon woman like a strong willed man who enjoy their job and do things for the glory of the empire or the family name.” Kalitta took the string out of her hair and let it fall down to her shoulders.

“I was originally told to Join star fleet in a officer exchange program. But before I could serve on a ship I had to pass some star fleet qualifications and pass their medical practices course. They probably figured that I wouldn’t have any sort of bed side manor.” Kalitta looked pensive for a moment thinking back to when she attended the academy for a short period of time. “To be honest I didn’t have a bed side manor for about a year till I understood that most star fleet officers want to be babied when ever they have a little cut or bruise.”

Kalitta took another drink. “I suppose I am used to this life style now. It is nice knowing that the person who wants to replace you won’t literately stab you in your back for your job.”

Cochrane, XO

Cochrane laughed out at the comment and then said “To true.”

Trax decided to mingle a bit trying to stay out of anyway. as he made it towards the bar. “What’s the special tonight guys?” Trax asked casually as he grabbed a few peanuts from the bowl. As he watched the bartender getting drinks for the others first. As he tried to see if there was anything or anyone interesting around. Trax did his best to stay calm and collected and made sure he was not probing with his mind. just normal surface thought would be all he would gather. nothing deeper as he focused on his drink at present.

Ensign Trax Suder Jo Doctor

What the ensign could sense is a building sexual desire from Kalitta towards Cochrane. Though it was probably the blood wine doing the talking.

Lt.Cmdr Kalita - CMO

Cochrane saw Suder at the bar and looked over at Kalita. “Have you met Doctor Suder yet?” he asked, indicating the Junior Medical Officer with a nod in his direction.

Cochrane, XO

Trax noticed the xo’s indication to have him come over he really did not want to get in the way but he figured he better go over as he was directed. He started walking towards them noting the tension from both for the same source or different he was not sure and was not trying to pry. When he got close enough to speak without yelling. “Good afternoon sirs.” Trax commented politely to them both. As he kept a comfortable distance from the Klingon. As he grabbed a challis of Bloodwine and took a sip. Trax has never had blood wine before so it was a new taste for him. It was strong and rough like a Klingon warrior can be. Trax thought to himself. before speaking again. “Is everything ok Sir looking at the xo are you feeling ok?” Trax asked being a doctor it might give him some cover for discomfort.

Ensign Trax Suder Jo Doctor

Kalitta shot a look of annoyance at Trax almost to say you are disturbing our private conversation. “No I have not had a chance to meet with all of my junior doctors yet.”
Kalitta watched as the ensign drank some blood wine and nearly sputter as it went down. “That there ensign is the real blood wine. Not that replicated crap.”

Lt.Cmdr - Kalitta - CMO

Not too long after, the door to the lounge (?) opened and in stepped what was probably the shortest member of the crew. Standing at almost exactly 1 meter tall, the furry face of the alien chief of science looked around with a decent modicum of curiosity before settling on faces she recognized, and faces she did not. In her civvies right now, she was dressed in loose pants and a flowing shirt. Galdori in general weren’t fond of tight or closely-fitting clothing, and Sadie was no exception. She had a few small piercings in as well, ones which she always had to take out when she was on duty.

She watched Cochrane, Trax, and Kalitta for a while, interested in the interplay and interactions between people of several different worlds.

“I figured as much sir!” As he looked at the officer as he downed the glass. “I do admit this is better than the replicated bloodwine.” Trax said smiling to her. “Nice meeting you sir. Ka-pla. I am sorry to bothered you, sir. looking at the Klingon a moment longer.” as he started to move away from there feeling the irritation coming from the Klingon officer. As he looked over at the xo. “If you got a free second or so Sir?” I would like to ask you something in Private.” As he moved off towards the door where he came in as he noticed Sadie enter. “Hello, Sadie I hope all is well?” Trax asked calmly to her as he waited to see if the xo was coming or not as moved to the door as it opened. he hoped that the xo wanted a way out but he hoped he did not misunderstand him.

Ensign Trax Suder Jo Doctor

Cochrane looked at Kalitta. “Duty calls. If you will excuse me. But save my seat. That’s an order.” he said with a slight grin and moved to wards the door. Passing the Chief Science Officer, he said “Evening, Lieutenant. Hope you are well?”

Cochrane, XO

Kalitta took note of Trax, and mentally put Trax on her crap list. Just when I was about to make my move on Cochrane she thought. “I will always have a seat availble for you commander.” She then Took the last gulp of her blood wine from her tankard. And watched as the lounge began to fill up.

This will be a good Ship she thought.

Lt.Cmdr Kalitta - CMO

Sadie stepped forward and sat next to Kalitta after the commander had left. “Hello, I’m not sure we’ve met,” she said, puffing her chest out slightly. She was a little meek, but she knew she couldn’t show herself to be too soft around the klingon.

Kalitta was slightly supprised to see Sadie suddenly sitting beside her. Her quiet evening had now been intrupted plesently so by the Commander but now by two other officers Trax, and Sadie. She just looked at the woman beside her and laughed inside at the pittiful attempt to look bigger by puffing her chest. “Lieutenant you might want to relax before you dislocate a rib.”

Sadie bleated slightly, nodding. “Sorry. I’m Sadie. I’m the Chief Science Officer aboard this ship,” she said, not sure exactly how to greet the Klingon. “I know humans like to shake hands when greeting one another. Is there any particular way that your people greet one another?”

“I am doing ok sir. I am sorry if I took you away from Kalitta sir. But I was feeling that you were a bit overwhelmed.” Trax said softly for others not to here. “If I was wrong I am sorry. “I was wanting your opinion on possible future on the Ark Angel?” Trax knew he was going to be in deep with the CMO he could feel the anger. But he would do what is needed when the time comes to get back on their good side again. Trax let out a sigh he knew he would never win with this new officer.

Ensign Trax Suder JO Doctor

Cochrane chuckled and put a hand on Suder’s shoulder. “I appreciate your concern, Ensign. But I attended the Klingon War College for two years and served on a few Klingon ships. I think I can safely manage. ” and he shook his head and chuckled again. “But you probably didn’t do yourself any favors, cutting in on a drunk Klingon who happens to be your boss like that.” and he leaned in and whispered to the young doctor, the smile not leaving his face but his words conveying a much more serious tone, “Watch yourself, Ensign. Small slights, intended or not, can set a Klingon against you for life. Tread carefully, ok?” and he stood up straight and said “I am happy to discuss your future on the ship with you, but the Lounge is not a good place for such discussion. Meet me in my office tomorrow at 0900, ok? We can discuss what your future holds at that time. Now, if you will excuse me, I’m going to head back.” and he reached out to shake the Ensign’s hand.

When he was done, he headed back to the table and took his seat. “Apologies for the interruption, Doctor. The Ensign was looking for some advice. I will be pulling him from Sickbay tomorrow at 0900 for a conference. Hope you don’t mind.” and he leaned back and took a sip from his glass. “So where were we?” he asked.

Cochrane, XO

Trax was now embarrassed he needs to get better at interpreting humans and others better. “Aye, Sir! Again sorry sir! Thanks for the warning but I believe it’s too late.” Trax commented as he said to the officer as he watched him leave and return to the party.

“Why did the little runt want advice from you in the Lounge? Such a topic should be discussed in private, in your office.” Spat the klingon. Kalitta’s mind was racing with all the extra duties that she could give Trax. “Are you going to transfer him?” She asked I hope it’s not before I am able to teach him a lesson in mannors. She thought.

“We were getting more Blood Wine! HAHAHA!” She laughed whole heartedly.

“Bar keep! Bring me another flagon of my finest blood wine!” She bellowed out across the lounge. The NE bar tender hated the fact that she would yell across the lounge, but he figured it was a Klingon custom so he did as he was bid to do. He went into the back of the near by storage room with the crews assorted personal drinks. Kalitta’s was of course the largest being in a large barrel. He checked the level of the wine in the barrel. “It’s only been one night and she has already drank nearly half of a barrel!” he said to himself astonished.

“So Cochrane, you mentioned that you have no family of your own. What about brothers and sisters?”

Just then the bar tender came round with a large pitcher of wine. Hoping that the larger pitcher will keep them busier for longer. “Can I get the two of you anything else?” the NE asked. It was just then that Kalitta’s stomach groweld. “Yes, bring me a plate of Gagh” she then looked to the Commander “What will you have Cochrane?”

Lt. Commander - Kalitta - CMO

When Cochrane returned, Sadie was quiet until she had a moment’s pause. “I’d like some bloodwine if possible,” she said to the CMO with a slight grin. “I’ve always wondered though, why is it called Bloodwine? What is it made from?”

Kalitta got a great big smile on her face her sharpened teeth showing grotesquely. She then poured Sadie a glass of the wine. “This is some of the best blood wine you will ever have. it is from the chotwI’pu’ mountains. It is a fine blend of Wild targ blood and the blood of our most infamous warriors. They all donate a few pints of blood every year. It is watered down and blended with some wild roots to give its alcoholic content. Then it’s aged for five to ten years.” Kalitta took a gulp of her blood wine. “What we have here is aged eight years.”

Sadie stared into the glass, gulping. “Ah,” she blinked. “As interesting as that is, I’m not entirely certain this won’t be pure poison for me. You probably won’t understand, as a culture that has a lot of meat consumption in it, but my species is naturally herbivorous,” she said, putting the bloodwine down sheepishly. “I think the high blood content could very well give me extreme food poisoning…” she trailed off. She’d wanted to impress the klingon, but now she would disappoint instead.

Trax followed the xo or so later a minute back to the party as he entered quietly as he moved far away from the CMO and the XO as possible. As he moved to a corner to sit in at a table to think of what repercussions he would face again with the COM. As a waiter came by. “I want something strong!” Trax commented flatly as he gave the waiter an order. “I don’t care what it is. besides bloodwine.”

Ensign Trax Suder JO Doctor

While talking with the Cochraine and Sadie, Kalitta kept a close eye on Trax and made note of what he was drinking and doing.
