As the title thread says I just had a bit of an idea to refresh the ship a bit. What would the current crew feel to the idea of a class change and/or name change? Thoughts would be greatly welcome here.

I’m a fan of history, and the name Ark Angel has a lot of history - she’s the second oldest active named ship in STF, and the longest continually active (the Constellation was decommissioned for a little while in the mid-90s).

I like the idea of a class change, though. Did you have one in mind?

Not exactly just was toying with it as a thought. I’m interested though hearing what others think in general. I do agree now that I had time to ponder it a name change should be a no go given the history point you make.

The first question that comes to my mind is “What is the purpose behind either?” I’ll admit that the “Ark” in Ark Angel makes me wince a little inside, but it’s a name and doesn’t really bother me in the end. If it were something like USS Derpyburd, I’d say change it but otherwise it’s fine. As for the class of ship, unless it was a drastic type change for a reason I’d say just leave it.

I don’t think we need a name change (like the others, I’m fond of this one) but perhaps a decision of WHAT and WHO we are would be helpful. A multi mission ship seems a bit vague and leaves folks wondering how to develop characters. I think as GM and CO you need to decide what you want the ship to be and then we can discuss classes or such. But just ‘change of class’ is like saying ‘pick a rug’… how big, what color, for what room, for what purpose… too many variables in this time of moment.

What do YOU want the ship to be doing (as CO and GM)? Then we can ( as a ship if you wish) help narrow down choices from there on ship etc....
