Sharah nodded and handed the tricorder to Hayley. “Let me know what these readings say. And just to be on the safe side. Let’s move these down to arboretum 3 and set up a quarantine. We don’t want to use them for meds or let them near the other plants until we know if something is wrong with them.” She left sickbay, considering the what might have made the plants grow that fast. She rubbed her temples…the level of anxiety and stress on the ship slowly sky rocketing the longer the morning wore on.

Hayley made the necessary arrangements for the plants and advised the computer to advise her when the scan results were available. She also sent messages to both the Captain and Engineering advising them of the occurrence. Those tasks taken care of, she retired to her office to go over shift reports and have a soothing cup of tea. There was a sense of impending ‘something’ in the air. It was enough to cause a prickling sensation on the back of her neck.

Scan results soon came in, the plants were normal enough, they were regular full bloomed examples of their species nothing showed up showing how they grew up so fast though on scans! Video log reviews painted a different picture though. Sometime around 0100 hours in the morning a plump figure in a red-white suit phased into the lab in a flash of white and made ‘ho ho ho’ sounds before waving his hands over the plants and in another flash of light the ribbon, message, and plants all flashed into full growth.

Hayley suppressed a groan as she watched the video log. She had a pretty good idea now what they were dealing with. She’d never experienced the Q herself, but had heard many stories of such encounters. She touched her comm badge and spoke: =/\= Marshall to Captain Andone - We have a bit of a ‘festive’ situation here in Sickbay - I only assume it is related to everything else going on around here right now.
