Hayley stepped out of her office just as Nurse Robbins was speaking to the Ensign. “Thank you Kenda,” she said with a smile,” No need to pull anyone else from their tasks. I can see to this.” She turned toward the new arrival. “Ensign Riley was it? Welcome to the Ark Angel. I’m Dr. Marshall.”

Riley smiled back in kind. “Pleasure to meet you Dr. Marshall, and thank you! I’m excited to be here.” He took in the room again, nodding appreciatively. “The medical facilities are as impressive as the science labs. This ship is incredible.”

He gestured around. “So, where do you want me?”

Hayley gestured toward the nearest biobed. “This will be fine Ensign.” She replied. “And yes, it is impressive, I am still getting used to it myself.” She waited for the En. to take a set on the biobed. “I’ve already reviewed your med file. Is there anything you know of that needs to be updated?” She paused to pick up her medical tricorder and probe. “May I?”

Riley hopped up on the bed and shimmied back until his knees were at the edge. “And what would you do if I said ‘no’?” he replied with a chuckle, then gestured for her to proceed. “No, there have been no changes. Made it through my Academy cruise unscathed. I mean, it wouldn’t look great if we didn’t, would it?”

Hayley smiled in response and started scanning the Ensign. She watched the results on the screen as she went. “Everything looks fine here Ensign. You seem to be in perfect health. If you have completed your other check ins then you are good to assume your duties onboard. Is there anything else I can do for you?”
