Okay, it’s Day 6! Where is everyone at? Are you ahead of your goals? Behind? Do you need a boost, to commiserate on challenges? Give us a snapshot.

I’m far ahead of my original goal which is great because I’m battling a cold and it’s kicking my butt badly. Made my 2000 word count for today and might pick away at the scene I was last working on some more later, but I need a break. Naps are good.

I am halfway between day 1 and 2 word count. My characters just aren’t speaking to me, or maybe they are, and I’m just not listening to them. Maybe I need to write the first murder and see if that gets things going.

I think I probably need to plot a bit more and then see how it goes.

I am also off to Supanova this weekend in Brisbane, last year I met, and a had a photo with, the lovely Gates McFadden. She was an absolute delight.

PS Linds - I have the Admin square on this MOTD. No doubt a remnant from time when I was helping with the book club. You may want to remove it at some stage. :)

I’m behind. A lot of things have managed to keep me busy, but I have at least touched my writing everyday I wanted to. My best day was Monday so far. We shall see how the rest of the week goes. I have overtime this weekend, so hopefully I can squeeze in time for writing some time after that. Every little bit counts I guess. :P

I have been writing a little every day since I started. And while I have no idea where the story will go and if the scenes I wrote will actually stay in the story, they helped me get a good feeling for my two main characters and helped me develop them further. I’m very happy about that.

Today I participated on my very first write-in; on the subway. It was so much fun and so much positive and creative energy. Including the break at the east end of Toronto we were on the subway for 2.5 hours and I managed to write 1395 words! I’m really happy about that :) It is so much then I expected I would be able to write and I think even more than I wrote (on this project) all week.

It’s about a week past the half-way point and I was wondering how everyone is doing?

Personally, I didn’t get much writing in outside the two write-ins I attended. Yet with November being insanely busy work-wise I’m not surprised. So while I’m shy of 6,000 words I’m happy about every word I get down on paper.

How about the rest of you?

I’m doing terrible. I’ve gone weeks without getting anything down, but that’s mainly due to issues popping up and my work schedule changing. Overtime has been a thing too. My hope is that after November, I’ll try to keep it going through December. But, as of right now, I don’t have much for the month. Hopefully this week will change things.

I successfully completed the Nano Challenge this year. At 11:59pm local time on November 30 2019, according to Dabble Writer, I had written my 50,000th word. When I synced it to Nanowrimo, I was told I had written something like 50,650 words, so something happened there.

I was very happy to win it, as it gave me a discount on Dabble Writer for the next year (50% off) - so $2.49/month instead of $4.99/month and also a discount on Campfire writing software (40% off), I think it was.

Dabble Writer suits me perfectly when it comes to my writing. It breaks things up nicely into chapters and scenes and I can change things around. It also gives a rudimentary ability of doing character studies and things about languages, systems, nations, landforms etc. I was also an early adopter of Dabble Writer, using it free a couple of years ago.

Campfire Pro focuses more on the planning things behind the scenes before you get to the writing - character profile sheets, timelines, species/cultures/systems/languages/religions/magic etc and presents it all as an online encyclopedia, like wikipedia/memory alpha but locatedlocally, instead of accessible to all. It doesn’t yet have a word processor capability like Dabble Writer.

Wow, I totally ghosted on this board last month.

Probably because I got so focused on working on my story. I completed my 50,000th word on Nov. 28 (documentary evidence is on my Twitter), and I’m still plugging away at it right now trying to finally get to the climax of the story.

As I write this, I’m at 67,635 through 37 chapters. That doesn’t account for chapter titles and prompts though, which could cut out probably about 600 of them if I’m being exceedingly harsh on myself. Hopefully, I’ll have everything wrapped up in the next few days and can start fine-tuning it with an eye towards submission sometime in 2020.
