The full details of the Celebration of Life for Steven (Sat Oct.2nd) will be in Kate’s post in Command, but we wanted a place where those who couldn’t make it, or don’t think they’d be able to say anything, could take a moment and share something about Steven. It could be a funny memory from, a thread or post you loved, or anything like that. We might use some of these on Saturday if we find we need to fill in any breaks/pauses.

I thought I’d start this off with the post I read at the voice memorial yesterday. It is the one where Steven gave Kate her Captain’s animal nickname and I think it encompassed who Steven was.

I have known Steven for many years through STF though we were not as close as he was with some of the other members. I did work with him and off and on during the years on various projects in STF.

Most recently, before my retirement from STF, we worked on the STF Monthly Newsletter together with Kate O’Neill. He was always eager to help and answer any questions. Quite often his sense of humor would come out in various ways as well and it is what I remember the most about him. Through the naming of various Captain’s to helping host the STF Awards. His sense of fun and humor always shone through.

To illustrate this sense of humor and fun I would like to share with you the post that Steven made to give Kate her Captain’s nickname. It is one of the posts that immediately came to my mind when I first heard of Steven’s passing and I realized that his humor is one of the things I will miss the most about him and will always remember fondly.

“Never give up…never surrender.” I think Steven would say those words today about Covid if he could. We will beat Covid eventually but we will not forget those that we have lost to it.
