These are hypothetical questions for all candidates.

1. Let’s say it’s a couple months from now and you’re either the President or Vice President. Someone approaches you explaining that they’ve found themselves in the middle of drama between members, at least some of which has to do with people disagreeing as they attempt to work with each other in the roles they have in STF’s government. The person says they’re tired of all the bickering and it’s just not worth it, but they don’t have any idea how to start making it better. How do you respond to this person and what actions do you take?

2. Same question, only you’re not an executive. If you would respond differently and take different actions than you answered above, what would you do?

Hey Adam,

This was a great question that, sadly, I’ve dealt with many times throughout my time in the club. First and foremost, I think we get too hung up on people being “Executive” or “Flag”… STF, to me this has always been about friends that love writing together while enjoying a unique platform.

I would tackle this issue the way I always have, as a friend (distant or close) that loves being a part of this group. Irregardless (HA! I can finally use that word!) of being an Executive or not, my approach wouldn’t change. I would talk to both involved, as a friend… not someone coming down on the other… and try to unpack whatever issue is between them. Then I would attempt to facilitate discussion between the two and help them work through the issues between them. It doesn’t always work but I think that, as a fellow club member, no matter the position… it’s our duty to try and help our friends work through problems they face. Not because it’s “our job” but because as part of a community it’s just what you do.

Isn’t what you said here at odds with what you actually did when you had a dispute with me when I was the President where you started an impeachment proceeding against me? Could you please explain this apparent discrepancy of what you posted above? Like, did I miss something at the time behind the scenes? Or did something largely change since then?
